Job Description

Rail Engineering Director

AECOM

• Support planning, sustainability, environmental, and engineering efforts from project conception through construction. • Oversee design document consistency and compliance. • Advise on environmental strategy and ensure regulatory adherence. • Collaborate with Construction and Rail Operations on system policies, station design, and alignments. • Coordinate with the Client, Design Builders, PCM teams, and third-party utilities or railroads. • Attend meetings and review project documents. • Report on discovered utility/railroad issues and participate in issue resolution. • Prepare status reports and maintain tracking log for issues and resolutions.

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS + 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, transportation, or related discipline (preferred).
  • 25 years of relevant experience and 8 years of leadership (preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred).
  • Experience with high-speed rail projects in a senior leadership capacity (preferred).
  • Familiarity with advanced rail maintenance technologies and sustainable design practices (preferred).
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder project environments (preferred).
  • Proven expertise in planning and managing large-scale rail maintenance facilities (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of rail vehicle servicing operations and requirements (preferred).
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, including FRA and California requirements (preferred).
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive technical documents and plans (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills (preferred).
