The ideal candidate for this position should be familiar with the tech sector, mission critical and data center industry, understanding the requirements of scale, speed, and consistency in data centers. This position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule and can be based from a variety of locations in the US where AECOM has an office. Responsibilities - Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC System Design: - Developing and designing Heat Rejection and HVAC systems specifically tailored for data centers. - Considering factors such as type of cooling requirement, associated cooling loads, future flexibility, airflow management, humidity control, system redundancy, energy efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. - Cooling System Selection: - Selecting appropriate air/water side cooling systems for data centers based on specific cooling requirements. - Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis: - Conducting internal CFD simulations to optimize airflow distribution and ensure efficient cooling. - Preparing and/or directing preparation of models and analyzing results to recommend design modifications. - Redundancy and Fault Tolerance: - Designing HVAC systems with redundancy and fault-tolerant features to ensure continuous operation. - Heat Load Calculation and Capacity Planning: - Performing heat load calculations for data centers to determine cooling requirements. - Conducting capacity planning to ensure the HVAC system can accommodate future expansions. - Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: - Implementing energy-efficient HVAC design strategies to minimize energy consumption. - Air Quality and Filtration: - Ensuring the data center's air quality is maintained at optimal levels by designing appropriate filtration systems. - Coordination with Electrical and Mechanical Systems: - Collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate the heat rejection and HVAC system seamlessly. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. - Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation. - P.E. registration is required. Requirements - A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC engineering, or a related field from an accredited university is typically required. - Preference for candidates with a master's degree or advanced coursework in HVAC systems or energy management. - Knowledge of data center TER Standard Topology as per Uptime Institute, TIA 942, ANSI/BICSI 002. - Professional certifications related to HVAC engineering, such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), or LEED accreditation, would be advantageous. Role Description AECOM is hiring a Data Manager to oversee maintenance of data infrastructure and architecture for Oil, Gas, and Remediation projects. • Develop overhead and underground transmission line designs ranging from 69kV through 500kV and higher. • Perform line routing evaluations, structure spotting, and transmission line layout development. • Prepare engineering and construction packages, including plan and profile drawings, staking sheets, framing drawings, and material lists. • Coordinate survey, LiDAR, geotechnical, environmental, and right-of-way data to support project development. • Utilize PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and related design software to develop transmission line deliverables. • Review engineering criteria, client standards, NESC requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements during design development. • Coordinate closely with civil, structural, substation, environmental, permitting, and project management teams. • Interface with clients, utilities, contractors, and technical stakeholders throughout project execution. • Support constructability reviews and provide technical support during construction and commissioning activities. • Identify design risks and propose practical engineering solutions to support project objectives. • Assist with preparation of task estimates, schedules, and proposal efforts. • Support field reviews, site visits, and walkdowns as required. • Maintain positive working relationships with peers, project teams, and clients.
