Role Description This role will support a major multi-year program with the New York City Department of Transportation focused on maintaining and expanding the city's roadway camera and roadside equipment infrastructure. As Technical Writer, you will support a large-scale DOT technology infrastructure program involving the maintenance of the current citywide camera system and deployment of approximately 300 new units over the next five years across New York City. This role will focus on producing structured technical documentation, operational plans, and program manuals by collaborating with engineering teams, subject matter experts, and project leadership. You will translate complex technical information into clear documentation that supports program delivery, operations, and long-term system management. Key Responsibilities - Develop technical documentation using information from RFPs and collaboration with internal subject matter experts - Produce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical plans, and equipment manuals - Develop a Staffing and Human Resource Management Plan - Prepare a Software Development Plan and support documentation updates as systems evolve - Contribute to ongoing AI technology assessments and related documentation - Create and maintain a Quality Management Plan for the program - Develop Maintenance and Support Plans for deployed infrastructure systems - Prepare a Contract Succession Plan and program continuity documentation - Develop Roadside Equipment (RSE) Hand Back Work Plans for asset lifecycle management - Produce comprehensive System User Manuals, System Maintenance Manuals, and Service Manuals - Create and maintain RSE Operations Manuals - Prepare RSE Maintenance and Service Manuals - Write and maintain installation progress reports documenting deployment milestones - Coordinate with engineering teams, construction managers, and infrastructure specialists to gather technical inputs Qualifications - Approximately 5 years of experience in project management and information technology environments - Experience working with engineering teams, construction managers, or infrastructure project teams - Ability to gather technical information from multiple stakeholders and translate it into structured documentation - Familiarity with software documentation tools and technical writing platforms - Experience producing technical reports, system documentation, and operational manuals - Strong written communication and documentation skills - Ability to organize complex information into clear technical documents Benefits - $70,000 annual salary - Full benefits package including paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and 401(k) match - Flexible Monday–Friday schedule (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) - Fully remote option or hybrid work from Lower Manhattan office - Opportunity to contribute to a large-scale 5-year infrastructure technology program with the New York City Department of Transportation - Long-term project stability with a leading construction management services firm
