Role Description This position is located in the Public Partnerships Division of the World Food Programme's (WFP) Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Consultant will be assigned to the Due Diligence Unit within the Partner Governments and Partnerships Support Service. As part of its Resource Mobilization Strategy, WFP has established a new Due Diligence Unit within the Public Partnerships Division. Under the general supervision of the Head of Due Diligence, the responsibilities of the Consultant will include: - Conducting detailed research on prospective donors/partners, focusing on core values and principles concerning human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption, as reflected in the United Nations Global Compact and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. - Identifying practices and policies that may pose a reputational risk to WFP, or otherwise appear to compromise the integrity or independence of the organization. - Drafting and editing reports, presenting research findings in a neutral, accurate, and concise format, including objective analysis of key facts and issues, and using new research tools and platforms as they become available. - Help ensure effective knowledge management during and after the transfer of Due Diligence processes from LEG to PPD, including transfer of historical report and reference materials. - Assisting with the development of reference materials, practice notes, training materials, and other documents, as appropriate. - Performing other duties as required. Role Description The current prevalence of malnutrition in children is alarming. Over 45 million children suffer from acute malnutrition and over 149 million suffer from stunting. Maternal and child undernutrition is the underlying cause of approximately 45% of all mortality in children under 5. Not only does undernutrition levels remain stubbornly high, but numbers of overweight persons are growing exponentially, even in poor countries. As the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, the World Food Programme (WFP) is adapting to meet the current and emerging global nutrition challenges. This includes enhancing organizational capacity to reach vulnerable populations affected by acute malnutrition, as well as expanding our portfolio to find lasting solutions for populations affected by poor diets and chronic malnutrition. Role Description The Senior Technical Advisor – Disaster Risk Financing (DRF) provides high-level technical leadership on disaster risk financing instruments, focusing on macro and meso-level climate insurance, risk layering, catastrophe bond structuring, and climate hazard model development. The role includes: - A. Technical Advisory Services on Disaster Risk Financing Instruments - Coordinate the technical design, structuring, and refinement of sovereign and meso-level risk transfer instruments, including macro drought insurance products, risk layering mechanisms, and trigger-based contingency financing tools. - Coordinate the design, testing, and refinement of new or expanded DRF instruments, including: - Expansion and optimization of the catastrophe insurance layer in Africa. - Meso-level insurance products in collaboration with the Inclusive Risk Financing Team. - New macro drought insurance instruments for high-risk contexts (e.g., Afghanistan). - Provide technical recommendations on the development of first-of-its-kind financing instruments, including a catastrophe bond for drought. - Advise WFP and partners on the development and evaluation of data analytics and risk modeling. - Coordinate the policy placement process for WFP / PRGR. - Initiate and oversee technical research and studies that advance modeling, index design, and DRF operationalization. - B. Strategic Advisory Support to Country Offices and Governments - Support technical engagement with Country Offices (COs) and Government Technical Working Groups. - Provide technical advice on the benefits, limitations, and design implications of different risk transfer products. - Guide countries through risk financing strategy development. - Provide technical training for COs, government counterparts, and internal focal points on DRF, risk transfer, and index methodologies. - C. Deliverables at the end of the contract include: - High quality risk transfer instruments designed or refined. - Technical briefing notes and model assessments for each country’s DRF instrument(s). - Refined and expanded Africa catastrophe insurance layer and documentation of the expansion approach. - At least one new risk transfer product developed (or advanced to design stage) for a specific region/country. - Strengthened technical capacities of COs and partner government teams. Qualifications - Education: Advanced University degree in risk modelling, engineering, economics, environmental sciences, climate science, agricultural sciences, geosciences, financial engineering, or related field. - Experience: - At least 11 years of progressively responsible experience in disaster risk financing, macro/meso level insurance, catastrophe modelling, climate risk management or related technical fields. - Demonstrated experience in structuring risk transfer instruments, including sovereign insurance or catastrophe bonds. - Proven experience working with technical service providers, modelling firms, financial institutions, brokers, reinsurers/insurers. - Knowledge & Skills: - Strong expertise in climate hazard modelling, index design, and financial structuring of DRF instruments. - Ability to lead high level technical discussions and advise senior partners. - Strong coordination and communication skills across diverse stakeholders. - Excellent analytical writing and technical reporting skills. - Languages: Fluency in English (Level C). Role Description The consultant will implement and coordinate the specified ETB/IFAK programme, including: - Developing an elaborate training calendar for prioritized locations identified for the IFAK Training. - Planning and coordinating training activities for each identified country. - Coordinating with country offices (security, logistics, administration, and management counterparts). - Preparing periodic project progress and technical reports, including the number of participants trained and participant course evaluations. - Supporting procurement of medical items/material required for the training (medical items, consumable material, vendor identification, budget allocation, etc.). - Preparing budget estimates and supporting financial tracking for training delivery. - Providing regular project updates and performance reporting to SEC-I leadership. - Preparing a final project report including recommendations and conclusions. Qualifications - Education: UNSMS Trainer Development Certification Course (TDC with SSAFE add on) is required; WSAT ToT desirable. - Must have a good understanding of medical terminology and equipment, specifically the First Responder Programme policies and equipment. - Experience: At least 8 years of professional work experience in security, emergency, training, and/or coordination setting. - Experience in the coordination, organization, and delivery of first responder training. - Good understanding of the UN Security Management System (UNSMS), Security Risk Management process, and relevant policies relating to the IFAK/ETB First Responder Courses. - Familiarity with the structure and resources within the countries where training will be conducted is desirable. The Communications Consultant is expected to: - Support the development & implementation of a yearly communication strategy for the Innovation Accelerator. - Carry out external communication on innovation and technology; develop and guide corporate and Accelerator-level communications priorities. - Produce and maintain up-to-date communication material for the Innovation Accelerator, specific to audiences, and both online and traditional channels. - Develop a media relations plan with proactive media outreach and pitching of stories to strategic news/information outlets. - Liaise and support media relations for both the Accelerator and Accelerator-supported innovations. - Attract high-potential social innovations from within WFP and external networks through events, PR, and digital marketing activities. - Position the WFP Innovation Accelerator as industry/sector leaders by drafting and editing articles, blogs, and press releases to promote Innovation Accelerator. - Liaise with the Innovation and Knowledge Management Division’s Communications Officer, the Communications, Advocacy, and Marketing Division (CAM), and the Government and Private Sector Partnerships Divisions as required. - Support communication content creation for innovation projects which take part in the Innovation Accelerator. - Identify stories and major communications moments; lead content gathering, creation, and marketing. - Support the production of content and visual assets (e.g., blog content, social media content, website content, graphics, audio/video materials, presentations, etc.) with writing, graphic design, video editing, and/or audio editing, as applicable, in coordination with the Marketing and Communications team. - Assist with project reporting requirements and information management between the Accelerator, project leads, and external parties. - Support innovation projects with communication advice and prepare communication material as required. - Support other partnerships, communications, and events need as required. - Provide input into communication and fundraising elements as required. - Prepare input, talking points, and briefings for WFP senior management, inter-agency opportunities, and donor communications. - Support the Accelerator’s fundraising activities and participation in external events. - Support core processes of the Accelerator (e.g., innovation challenge; bootcamps; sprint programme; thought leadership; innovation fund) as required. - Execute any other task required to support the activities of the Head of the WFP Innovation Accelerator and the Director of Innovation and Knowledge Management. - Cross-collaborate with RBD (RB for Western Africa) colleagues in specific projects assigned such as the Annual Country Report (ACR). Qualifications - The candidate must have an undergraduate degree; a degree in business, communications, or international development is preferred. - At least 3 years of progressively responsible national and/or international experience in communications, reporting, marketing, and/or business-related positions. Role Description The Consultant, reporting jointly to the Lead UX/UI Designer for the ShareTheMeal initiative, is expected to: - Develop WFP videos and motion designs for a wide variety of ShareTheMeal channels (including in-app, social media, paid ads, web). - Take video footage for projects as needed. Manage the shooting process, accordingly, including the preparation like lighting, staff, scene setup, etc. - Work together with Marketing, User Testing and Performance Marketing to support on marketing concept ideas, the creation of Storyboards & Shot Lists and iterate on and continuously improve existing video contents with new variants. - Create character animations, animated 2D-illustrations and Micro-Interactions for videos and in-app usage. Role Description The Digital Solutions Delivery Branch (TECD) is seeking to fill the position of a Senior Business Analyst for Human Capital Management (HCM) and non-for-profit Payroll (NPO) projects with knowledge, expertise, and experience in SAP Human Resource for Non-Profit Organization (PA, OM, TM, PY, …), focusing primarily on the integration between SAP HR and Workday/HCM. Reporting to the Lead of Business Analysts in TECD, and under the guidance of the Project Manager of the HCM project, the Senior Business Analyst will be a key team member in the HCM project and in all the ongoing and upcoming other HR initiatives. He/she will be responsible for liaising with stakeholders to discuss, collect, and document requirements and implement IT solutions which meet their needs and achieve the highest quality in terms of technical usability, user acceptability, and domain suitability. The incumbent will support the TEC Project Manager during the initiation, design, development, and testing phases of all HR projects as part of the project team. He/she will act as HR area focal point and will work together with the other Project Stream Leaders. Specifically, he/she will be accountable for the following key duties: - Collaborate in the definition, implementation, and testing of the integration between Workday and SAP HR; and support the cut-over, the go-live, and post go-live phases of the HCM Workday project. - Follow-up with the vendor maintenance team for HR, Payroll (including accounting and PBC – Position Budgeting and Control), interfaces (pension fund), and ASHI Retiree’s After Service Health insurance calculation. - Provide support to the other non-SAP related Payroll systems used in WFP, including PASport and UNDP Quantum, as needed. - Manage the integration between IT systems solution for HR area in collaboration with HR and Business Teams. - Provide integration troubleshooting and direct problem-solving efforts to resolve technical issues and questions raised by the technical and functional teams of the project. - Coordinate with the BA team of the other areas in reviewing impact and integration on Payroll, Finance, Budget, Travel processes, etc. - Provide support in determining costs and time frame estimations. - Other duties as required.
