Role Description The Consultant, reporting to the Head of Engineering for the ShareTheMeal initiative, is expected to: - Develop features and improvements to the ShareTheMeal web app in a secure, well-tested and performant way. - Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment. - Solve technical problems of medium to high scope and complexity. - Contribute to objectives and long-term goals of the web app. - Exert technical influence to improve the reliability of our products and systems. - Support defining and improving standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale environment of the ShareTheMeal initiative. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review. - Confidently ship large sized features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree - At least 4 years of experience in developing and designing JavaScript based web applications. - Expert knowledge of TypeScript and React.js development - In depth knowledge of Unit and End-to-end testing - Good understanding of JS testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, etc. - Embracing principles of clean code, test driven development and agile development processes - User-centered approach to software development - Strong analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative - Ability to interact with managers with maturity and tact. - Mature judgment with strong interpersonal skills - A positive mindset and collaborative spirit. Able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy. - Strong time management skills with an ability to plan, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work to tight deadlines. - Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy. - Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the World Food Programme - In addition to a high proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of a second UN language is a plus. Requirements - Completed contributions to application architecture and software development as agreed with the Head of Engineering. - Documentation and handover to the Head of Engineering for the ShareTheMeal initiative. - Fully functional dashboard capturing performance and availability metrics.
