Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm Location: Remote - applicants preferably reside within the UPH footprint of Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin Responsibilities - Project Management: - Drafts contracts based on operational requests, identifying required contract terms and potential non-compliance. - Analyzes proposed compensation to assess fair market value impact. - Compiles supporting documentation from various departments for contract execution. - Ensures contracts contain all required information in accordance with UPH Policies and Procedures. - Performs cursory legal and business review of documents. - Ensures final legal review of documents with UnityPoint Health Law Department and other appropriate individuals. - Reviews agreements and contracts for compliance with contractual terms and regulatory compliance. - Prepares and presents to the Affiliate Management Team review of contractual issues and other related documents. - Ensures that comparable compensation data and certifications are completed for all contracts, as applicable. - Completes review of all contracts required for integration or acquisition, assessing contract gaps and necessary terms. - Identifies any companion contracts (e.g., lease agreement, consent memo, etc.) to execute operational leadership’s intent. - Collaborates with the Provider Compensation Team to determine contractual language for applicable compensation plan. - Meets routinely with regional Director and/or VP to discuss contract needs and coordinate integration, acquisition, and/or employment efforts. - Department Excellence: - Participates in establishing and preparing team goals, standards, procedures, and instructions. - Maintains knowledge of team and organizational happenings by attending meetings and checking the organization’s intranet site. - Maintains an efficient and effective confidential filing system for contract-related correspondence. - Maintains the electronic contract compliance database, ensuring completeness and accuracy. - Serves as local administrator of the database and provides training to other internal users as needed. - Monitors database and works with responsible parties in advance of contract expiration dates for timely notice provisions. - Establishes effective communication mechanisms with staff and management to foster an environment of openness, trust, teamwork, and staff development. Qualifications - Education: - Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, health administration or related field, or equivalent work experience. - Preferred: Master’s degree in law, health administration or related field; paralegal and/or contract experience and education. - Experience: Minimum of three (3) years direct experience working with legal agreements and contracts. - Skills/Abilities: - Knowledge of general legal terminology and legal principles. - Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements and legal terminology. - Strong computer skills and advanced experience with Microsoft Office Products. - Exceptional ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in English. - Ability to travel within and outside of the state as required. - Ability to work evenings & weekends, when necessary. - Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships. - General knowledge of health care business functions.
