Full TimeRemoteSeniorTeam 250Since 2022

A new space race has begun. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build innovative technology that solves the next generation of engineering, manufacturing, and operational challenges for space security and sustainability. OUR MISSION The peaceful use of space is essential for continued prosperity on Earth—from communications and finance to navigation and logistics. True Anomaly builds innovative technology at the intersection of spacecraft, software, and AI to enhance the capabilities of the U.S., its allies, and commercial partners. We safeguard global security by ensuring space access and sustainability for all. OUR VALUES - Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity - What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results - It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together YOUR MISSION Creatives like you are essential to this mission — to inspire, narrate, and build. This is some of the most meaningful work you'll ever do, in an industry devoted to protecting the people you care about. We're looking for an experienced graphic designer to join a growing creative team at an early and exciting moment for the company. This is a hands-on role — creating product assets, brand materials, visionary content, and whatever else the mission demands. Your artistic talent is front and center; we're not directing agencies, we're rolling up our sleeves and doing. You'll work directly with our Creative Director who’s building this team for people who care as much about the craft as the mission. WHY THIS ROLE There's no established playbook for how space security looks, sounds, or feels. No legacy brand guidelines handed down from a fifty-year-old agency relationship. No committee approving your every choice. The work you make here will define how an emerging and critical industry presents itself to the world. You'll have real ownership. From designs that will go into orbit to how we frame our strategy, your fingerprints will be on work seen at the highest levels of government and military, as well as the public. If you've ever wanted your craft to carry real weight — this is that job. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Design & Creative Execution - Help us build our product. Create visual assets from scratch utilizing a variety of methods, 3D, 2D, photography, film, whatever it takes - Drive vision with our products and company strategy and visualize ways to tell our story in a way that connects - Bring impeccable design and artistic vision into everything we do, make us stand out WHAT WE’D LIKE TO SEE - We hire for talent and potential, not pedigree. - Show us an amazing portfolio that showcases your personal artistic skills and demonstrates your experience on projects you’re proud of - While defense and space knowledge is great, we don’t expect it. Tech, Games, design/creative agency and freelancer are all good backgrounds for this role - We work in Adobe Creative Suite, Blender or Cinema 4D for 3D, and Figma for UX — comfort with these is a plus, mastery of your own toolset matters more. 3D is not essential for this role but a plus. WHAT WE EXPECT - Leverage your experience to work quickly and efficiently, we’re a lean team, everyone needs to pitch in and move fast - Take ownership of creative programs and see them through concept to final execution - Turn your hand to what’s needed, livery for a spacecraft – check, presentation materials for a board meeting - check If you like this role but your skills or experience don’t quite fit… well apply anyway, or look at our other creative team role and see if that’s a better match: SENIOR UI DESIGNER COMPENSATION: - Base Salary: $90,000-$130,000 - Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education and experience. This position will be open until it is successfully filled. To submit your application, please follow the directions below. To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. True Anomaly is committed to equal employment opportunity on any basis protected by applicable state and federal laws. We're looking for a versatile, hands-on Digital Design Manager with a passion for hardware, beautiful design and execution. You'll work closely with our Senior Designer and collaborate cross-functionally with the broader marketing, engineering, and programs teams to visually tell the story of our products, mission, and thesis. If you're energized by variety, want to own your work end-to-end, and want your designs to actually ship, read on. Qualifications - 2–5 years of experience in digital design, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong craft across both static and motion work. - Proven ability to execute across a range of deliverables — from polished mockups and graphics to live website implementations. - A collaborative mindset and the ability to work cross-functionally across marketing, engineering, and broader business teams. - Strong organizational and project management skills, and the discipline to keep asset libraries and file systems clean and structured. - Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action — you figure things out and get things done. Requirements - Tools & Software - Design: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro), FIGMA. - Motion & Animation: After Effects, Lottie, or similar. - Web: Working knowledge of HTML/CSS; experience with CMS platforms. Preferred experience in Webflow, Squarespace, WordPress, or similar. - Collaboration: Slack, Teams. We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results - It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together YOUR MISSION Autonomy isn't a feature at True Anomaly, it's our competitive advantage. In space-to-space operations, victory is measured in milliseconds. When spacecraft operate in contested, unpredictable environments beyond reliable communication range, autonomous decision-making becomes the difference between mission success and failure. Human-in-the-loop isn't fast enough. Pre-programmed responses aren't adaptive enough. As Head of Autonomy, you'll define and scale the technical vision that enables our spacecraft to act, not react. You'll build systems that make optimal decisions under uncertainty in close-proximity operations, anticipate adversary behavior, and execute maneuvers without waiting for ground commands. This role owns the autonomy roadmap end-to-end, from foundational algorithms to flight-certified systems deployed across multiple product lines. You'll lead a small, elite team and shape how we design, validate, and deploy autonomous capabilities that outpace any competitor or adversary. RESPONSIBILITIES - Own the autonomy vision and technical roadmap for all True Anomaly products, translating strategic objectives into concrete algorithmic capabilities and delivery milestones - Build autonomous decision-making systems for close-proximity space operations in contested environments where communication delays, sensor uncertainty, and adversary adaptation demand real-time intelligence - Develop game-theoretic frameworks for multi-agent space scenarios, modeling adversary behavior, optimal response strategies, and equilibrium concepts for space domain awareness and defensive operations - Integrate machine learning where it provides measurable advantages such as Multi Agent collaboration, anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and adaptive behavior, while maintaining the rigor and reliability required for safety-critical spaceflight - Recruit and mentor a world-class autonomy team, leveraging your network to bring in specialists across game theory, optimal control, and machine learning - Collaborate cross-functionally with GNC, flight software, simulation, mission ops, and hardware teams to ensure autonomous algorithms integrate seamlessly into operational spacecraft - Drive maturation of research into flight-ready capabilities, balancing innovation with the certification requirements and risk posture of operational space systems - Design and implement optimal control algorithms for spacecraft maneuvering, resource allocation, and mission planning under constraints (fuel, time, sensor coverage, risk tolerance) - Represent True Anomaly's technical vision externally, publishing research, engaging with the autonomy community, and establishing our credibility as leaders in the field QUALIFICATIONS - Deep expertise in at least one of these three pillars, with working knowledge of the others: - Game theory—Nash equilibria, multi-agent systems, adversarial reasoning, differential games, or pursuit-evasion problems - Optimal control—MPC, trajectory optimization, Hamilton-Jacobi reachability, dynamic programming, or stochastic control - Modern ML/AI—reinforcement learning, imitation learning, transformer architectures, or other learning-based approaches - PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Control Theory, Applied Mathematics, or related field (exceptional MS + extensive experience considered) - 8+ years developing autonomous systems for real-world applications, with at least 3 years in technical leadership - Demonstrated ability to ship autonomous systems - Proven track record recruiting, mentoring, and leading technical teams - Strong publication record or patents demonstrating thought leadership in autonomy, control, or multi-agent systems preferred - Ability to obtain a security clearance (active clearance strongly preferred) PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE - Experience with space systems (orbital mechanics, GNC, spacecraft operations) - Hands-on expertise with C++ and Python for algorithm development and embedded deployment - Familiarity with probabilistic reasoning, state estimation (EKF/UKF, particle filters), and planning under uncertainty - Background in verification/validation of autonomous systems for certification or operational deployment - Network of top-tier autonomy talent - Has written papers for research that pushed the field forward or solved hard real-world problems - Can articulate why game theory is essential for space operations and how optimal control enables mission success - Knows when to use ML and when not to and can defend both decisions technically - Has hired and mentored engineers who've gone on to do exceptional work - Thrives in ambiguity COMPENSATION - Colorado Base Salary: $175,000-$360,000 - California Base Salary: $180,000-$360,000 - Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Work Location—ideally this role would be fully onsite at either our Centennial, CO or Long Beach, CA office but we could consider fully remote if this leader is open to travel. - Work environment—the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job. - Physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.
