The Virtualization Administrator II also contributes to the automation of infrastructure deployment and the integration of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) into CI/CD pipelines. Key responsibilities include: - Architecture, complex troubleshooting, overseeing upgrades and migrations, implementing backup and disaster recovery, automation, and providing mentorship to junior staff. - Designing, building, implementing, and troubleshooting information systems hosted on VMware, AWS, and Azure. - Providing technical support for existing and emerging virtualization technologies and assisting with planning and execution of related technology projects and initiatives. - Overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs), virtual infrastructure, and physical infrastructure (including rack mounting and hardware configuration). - Monitoring the performance of virtual environments and optimizing resource allocation to ensure efficient operation. - Diagnosing and resolving issues related to virtualization, including VM performance, connectivity, and security. - Implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments. - Ensuring the security of virtual environments by applying patches, updates, and mandatory/recommended security configurations. - Maintaining detailed documentation of virtualization configurations, procedures, and policies. - Working closely with other IT teams to support virtualization needs and integrate virtual solutions with other systems.
