Payroll16 days ago

Role Description As Director of Managed Payroll and Compliance, you'll own our fully managed payroll service and all client compliance across the Rise platform. You'll lead the team that processes and safeguards client payrolls, and you'll set the standard for how Rise interprets and applies payroll and regulatory requirements everywhere they touch a client. You'll partner closely with our Client Experience leadership so that managed payroll, support, and onboarding feel like one seamless service to the customer. This is a builder's seat on the leadership team, reporting to the CEO. You'll shape how a growing service scales, decide where process ends and judgment begins, and make Rise the partner clients turn to when payroll gets complicated. The day-to-day - Lead the fully managed payroll team, owning service quality, accuracy, and timeliness for every client payroll Rise runs on their behalf. - Own client compliance across all Rise offerings, setting the policies and controls that keep clients onside with payroll and regulatory requirements. - Build the processes, controls, and quality checks that let managed payroll scale without losing accuracy as the client base grows. - Partner with Client Experience leadership to connect managed payroll, onboarding, and support into one coherent client journey. - Coach and grow the managed payroll and compliance teams, hiring for the roles the service needs next and developing the people already in them. - Serve as the senior escalation point for complex payroll and compliance questions, guiding clients through the situations that don't have a textbook answer. - Work with Product and Engineering to turn what your team learns on the front line into a stronger platform. Qualifications - 8+ years in payroll, with several years running full-cycle Canadian payroll at scale. - Experience leading and growing a team, with a track record of developing people and lifting service quality. - Deep knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance across provinces, and confidence interpreting requirements that don't have an obvious answer. - A payroll designation such as PLP, PCP, or equivalent. - Strong operational instincts: you build repeatable processes and quality controls, and you know which steps need a human's judgment. - Clear communicator who can explain a complex compliance position to a client, an executive, or a new team member and be understood by all three. - Comfortable partnering across functions, including Client Experience, Product, and Engineering, to improve the service end-to-end. - A degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience. - Bonus: Bilingual proficiency in French and English. - Bonus: Experience standing up or scaling a managed or outsourced payroll service. Benefits - The base salary for this position is $80,000-100,000, depending on experience, plus a bonus and stock options. - We offer a remote work environment. On occasion, we may meet as a team or one-on-one in person. - We offer 3 weeks of paid vacation, flexible personal wellness days, as well as one day off for your birthday and your work anniversary. - We support your growth with a personal $1,000 learning and development budget to take courses, attend conferences, webinars, you name it! - We offer no-wait benefits, meaning that starting your first day, you have access to our comprehensive benefits package which includes dental, eye care, and $2,000 in counselling coverage, among many other great health benefits.

Senior Recruiter

Rise

As a nonprofit, community agency, Rise is dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities and other disadvantages, including those who are refugees and imm

Recruitment59 days ago

Title: Mid to Senior Recruiter Location: United States, Utah Job Description: Quick Read - Remote, work from home — must be based in South Africa - Part-time to start (25–30 hrs/week), with a path to full-time - Pay in USD, equivalent to roughly R45,000–R55,000 per month at full hours (rate depends on experience) - Working hours flex around US Mountain Time — typically your normal workday with 2–3 hours of overlap for live screening calls - Direct working relationship with the founder. No layers, no bureaucracy. About Rise Rise Talent Advisors is a US-based staffing firm headquartered in Utah. We place candidates into IT, software, fintech, accounting, construction, and data centre roles across the United States. We're small on purpose. Founder-led, lean, and built around one principle: every candidate we send to a client has been vetted by a senior recruiter not pushed through a junior pipeline to hit quota. We compete on quality and trust, not volume. We are growing. The owner currently runs every search personally. We are now bringing on a senior recruiter to help carry the load. That is this role. Duties & Responsibilities What You'll Do This is a real recruiting role. Not list-pulling, not coordination. - Source candidates across LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, Apollo, and our internal database for active US-based roles - Phone-screen candidates, typically 15–25 minute first conversations to assess fit, motivation, and credentials - Write clear, useful screening summaries (a recruiter's read, not a transcript) - Manage candidate communication through to submittal: scheduling, follow-ups, status updates - Push qualified candidates to the founder for final vetting before they go to clients - Work in our ATS (Manatal) and CRM (Notion) to keep records clean Client calls remain with the founder for the first 60 days while you build context. As you prove the work, scope expands. Desired Experience & Qualification Who We're Looking For - 2 to 5+ years recruiting experience. Tech, contract staffing, or agency-side preferred. Corporate TA experience is fine if you've sourced and screened, not just coordinated. - Native or near-native English. You will be on the phone with US candidates who need to feel like they are speaking with a peer. - Confident on calls. You can carry a real conversation with a senior software engineer, project manager, controller, or director-level candidate. You ask good questions, listen, and push back when something is off. - Sound judgment. You can tell the difference between a strong candidate and a polished one. You flag concerns early instead of pushing weak candidates through. - Self-directed. You run your day without being micromanaged. You ask when you are stuck. You say "not yet" when a candidate is not right. - Stable home internet — fibre or strong LTE, with backup power (load-shedding contingency in place) What Doesn't Work Here - If you have only done CV-formatting or candidate database work, this is not the right fit. We need a recruiter, not a coordinator. - If you need a lot of structure to be productive, this will not suit you. We are small and moving fast. - If you are looking for passive, async-only work, please keep looking. This role has live calls. The Process

On occasion, we may meet as a team or one-on-one in person. - Rise believes that time off is just as important as time spent. We offer 3 weeks of paid vacation, flexible personal wellness days, as well as one day off for your birthday and your work anniversary. - We support your growth with a personal $1,000 learning and development budget to take courses, attend conferences, webinars, you name it! - We offer no-wait benefits. This means that starting your first day, you have access to our comprehensive benefits package which includes dental, eye care, and $2,000 in counselling coverage, among many other great health benefits.
