Distribution Engineer Location: Kelowna BC CA Job Description: PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of complex industrial and utility-scale projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Distribution Engineer to join our engineering team on a full time basis. This role is Hybrid based in the city posted. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.   Responsibilities: · Assist in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 500kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility, national or international standards and codes. · Interact with internal / external contacts as necessary for design details. · Knowledge of permitting processes (highway, railroad, city, county, etc.) are also highly desired. · Collect, interpret, and organize project engineering and vendor data, and efficiently select and build bill of materials. · Interface with senior personnel to resolve potential technical and project issues. · Assist in compiling and maintaining internal engineering standards and work practices. · Coordinate with other business units to verify their project design requirements and delivery schedule.   Requirements Qualifications: · The successful candidate should possess a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of Seven years' related experience, with a strong focus on complex or industrial electrical distribution system design. · Experience in the civil, structural, electrical engineering, construction and telecommunications industry. · Demonstrated proficiency in PLS-CADD for complex distribution and industrial line design is required; experience with Quickpole or SpidaCalc is an asset. · Demonstrated knowledge of FortisBC, FortisAB, ATCO, Hydro One, or other utility Distribution Standards. · Experience with Aerial Communications line & poles inspections or design. Using CSA 22.3 No. 1-20 Overhead Systems and AEUC. · Strong interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail are essential. · Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team. · Familiarity with power system operations, practices, and installation standards is an asset. · Knowledge of the Microsoft office software suite of programs. • Coordinate daily and short-term scheduling of geomatics field crews, ensuring optimal deployment of personnel and resources • Work closely with Project Managers to align field activities with project schedules, priorities, and client requirements • Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as required to meet deadlines • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using Microsoft Excel and other tools • Identify scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, and potential risks, and proactively recommend solutions • Support the development of standardized scheduling and coordination processes • Track and coordinate the allocation and availability of survey trucks, tools, and geomatics equipment • Work with leadership to support equipment forecasting and planning for upcoming projects • Ensure equipment is assigned efficiently to meet project demands • Coordinate travel arrangements, accommodations, and logistics for field crews in collaboration with administrative staff • Ensure all necessary resources are in place for field teams prior to mobilization • Maintain accurate records related to scheduling, equipment, and crew assignments • Assist the Operations Manager and Director with workforce planning and resource forecasting • Support long-term planning efforts to ensure capacity meets business growth • Contribute to process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and communication across teams

• Support the design of overhead and underground electric distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 69kV. • Prepare detailed scopes of work, cost estimates, engineering calculations, and design drawings in accordance with applicable utility standards, U.S. national codes, and industry best practices (e.g., NESC, IEEE). • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (utilities, municipalities, contractors) to gather design requirements and ensure project alignment. • Utilize industry-standard software such as QuickPole, SpidaCalc, and/or PLS-CADD for line design and analysis. • Perform or support aerial line inspections and assessments for distribution and joint-use (communications) infrastructure. • Apply relevant U.S. standards including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and applicable state/local regulations. • Assist with permitting processes, including coordination with DOTs, railroads, cities, and counties across Texas. • Collect, interpret, and organize engineering, survey, and vendor data. • Identify and help resolve technical and project-related challenges in collaboration with senior engineers. • Support the development and maintenance of internal engineering standards, procedures, and best practices. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project schedules and deliverables are met.
