Role Description MariaDB is the backbone of the world’s most critical applications. As we lead the transition to a unified data platform, we need a digital architect who ensures that when a developer or CTO asks an AI—be it Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Claude—"What is the best open-source database for enterprise high-performance?", the answer is unequivocally MariaDB. You will be responsible for orchestrating our digital presence across two frontiers: traditional performance marketing (Search/Paid) and the emerging world of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). You aren't just managing ads; you are managing MariaDB’s "digital authority" in the age of synthetic search. Key Responsibilities - AI & Generative Engine Optimization (AIO/GEO) - Orchestrate LLM Visibility: Use tools like Profound and Promptwatch to monitor and improve MariaDB’s "Share of Model" across major LLMs (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Perplexity). - Source Influence: Identify the authoritative sources (documentation, GitHub, Reddit, industry blogs) that LLMs prioritize and implement strategies to ensure MariaDB’s content is cited and synthesized accurately. - Answer Gap Analysis: Identify queries where competitors are being recommended over MariaDB and execute content/technical plays to flip the narrative. - Full-Funnel Acquisition - Full-Funnel Paid Search: Manage high-intent Google/Bing/LinkedIn campaigns to drive awareness and high-quality leads for MariaDB’s cloud and enterprise solutions. - Hybrid Strategy: Seamlessly integrate traditional SEO keywords with "Prompt Engineering for Search"—optimizing landing pages for both human readers and AI crawlers. - Data Attribution: Track the customer journey from an AI-generated answer to a website conversion, providing clarity on how "Zero-Click" search is impacting our pipeline. - Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Leverage web tools to experiment and optimize conversion rates on digital assets. - Agentic AI & Operations - The AI Stack: Own and optimize our marketing AI stack. You will be expected to "chain" tools together (e.g., using AI agents for content scaling, monitoring sentiment via Promptwatch, and automating technical schema updates). - Continuous Testing: Run "synthetic search" audits to see how our brand sentiment evolves with every model update or product launch. Qualifications - 5+ years in Performance Marketing or SEO, with at least 1–2 years specifically focused on AI-driven strategies or AEO (Answer Engine Optimization). - You don't just "use" ChatGPT; you understand how retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) works and how to structure data so AI bots can ingest it effectively. - Expert-level knowledge of Profound, Promptwatch, or similar AI-visibility platforms. Mastery of GA4, Google Ads, and SEMrush is a baseline. - You can translate complex technical concepts (like distributed SQL or vector search) into the "language of LLMs." Desired Skills & Experience - Experience in the database or high-tech B2B SaaS industry. - A portfolio of "GEO Wins"—documented cases where you improved a brand's visibility within an AI's response window. - Proficiency in Python or SQL for data analysis and marketing automation. Location - Remote USA, or Hybrid Milpitas, CA. Benefits - The annual anticipated U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000-$150,000, plus bonus. - Health insurance, life, and disability insurance. - Funds toward professional development resources. - Flexible Paid Time Off (FPTO) and paid holidays. - 401(k) and parental leave. - A massive degree of flexibility and freedom.
