Role Description We are looking for highly motivated and mission-oriented team members to support our Federal customer. Role Description Improvix Technologies is seeking experienced Customer Engagement Specialists to support a federal customer responsible for delivering custom applications, enhancements, and new technical solutions on behalf of the agency’s many bureaus. This role requires someone who is organized, proactive, and capable of translating complex technical concepts into accessible, mission-focused insights. - Lead the development, maintenance, and execution of the organization’s data governance framework, including policies, processes, and standards. - Build, maintain, and expand the enterprise data catalog (Alation), including onboarding datasets, metadata, lineage, and steward assignments. - Partner with data stewards and technical owners to identify data assets, define ownership, and improve governance maturity. - Document and maintain data lineage across business, technical, and system layers. - Support and measure data quality initiatives, identify gaps, and implement improvements. - Facilitate governance meetings, Agile ceremonies, and stakeholder engagements. - Prepare and deliver clear, effective presentations and demos for both technical and non-technical audiences. - Identify and mitigate data-related risks, ensure compliance with internal governance standards, and support strategic data initiatives. - Collaborate within a cross-functional team environment, offering governance expertise while adapting to evolving program needs. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in data management, data science, information systems, computer science, or related field. - 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or metadata management. - Proven experience creating and operationalizing data governance frameworks and best practices. - Hands-on experience managing a data catalog (Alation strongly preferred). - Familiarity with Agile environments and participation in planning, stand-ups, and sprint demos. - Demonstrated ability to present and communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels. - Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive tasks with minimal oversight. - Strong documentation, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills. Requirements - Experience with Alation catalog administration, onboarding, metadata curation, and stewardship workflows. - Familiarity with Databricks Unity Catalog, Azure data services, or similar data platforms. - Experience supporting enterprise data strategies or data modernization initiatives. - Knowledge of data architecture principles and design patterns. - Industry certifications such as CDMP or DAMA (nice to have, not required).
