Role Description Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Shelter Outreach and Engagement for the Outreach, Engagement, and Training department. In this position you will lead the Shelter Outreach and Engagement team for the Outreach, Engagement and Training department. Qualifications - At least five years of experience in animal sheltering required; - Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, or another related field, or equivalent work experience, required. The general salary range for this full-time position is $79,600 – 119,400. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education. Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Field Response Manager for the Global Animal Rescue Team. In cooperation with the Director of Operations, Senior Director, and other ART leadership, this position provides operational oversight for field response activities and staff, ensuring effective, safe, and well-coordinated disaster and cruelty operations. Sitting within the Center of Expertise (COE), this role serves as a hub of subject-matter expertise, supporting preparedness, deployment planning, responder systems, training frameworks, and safety standards. The position enables consistent, effective, and safe field response by developing systems, maintaining operational readiness, and supporting deployments in collaboration with ART leadership, internal stakeholders, country offices, and external partners. Responsibilities: • Establishes and maintains organizational standards for supplies, equipment, and fleet readiness supporting disaster and temporary shelter responses. Ensures systems are in place for inventory tracking, maintenance, and deployment readiness. Develops and maintains vendor and partner relationships to support scalable and consistent response capability; • Assists with planning for deployment, including allocation and movement of resources, development of teams, and scheduling and confirming appropriate staff based on the type of operation; • Serves as field leadership on deployment, leading field teams in disaster and/or cruelty response when assigned. Provides expertise and guidance including adherence to procedure, safe animal removal, and temporary sheltering to the team and as needed to country offices; • In coordination with the Director of Operations and Senior Manager of Animal Care, maintains and stregthens the organization’s Responder Program, including screening, onboarding, and tracking of responders employed by a 3rd party vendor. Maintains records of responder deployment and trainings; • Maintains working relationships with Animal Rescue Team partners for transports, temporary sheltering, and other aspects of field resposnse; • Oversees the team’s safety and training to ensure a safe working environment for staff in the warehouse, on deployment, or when utlizing fleet vehicles; • Develops, maintains, and supports adoption of standard operating procedures for usage of equipment and fleet, field operations, and rescue activities; • Supports organizational training frameworks and professional development pathways for response staff, including development and sourcing of training in coordination with other Animal Rescue Team staff; • Develops and presents materials at conferences or scheduled trainings to broaden the ARTs network and reach; • Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience described below required; • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in animal control field supervision or disaster, large scale cruelty, or emergency response required, advanced animal handling skills, particularly animals in distress, required • Management/supervisory experience required; • Ability to travel, sometimes with little notice, approximately 50%. Frequency and duration of travel vary depending on working location and deployment needs, and may include flying and/or driving • A valid driver’s license is required (a CDL is preferred, or the desire and ability to obtain one via training after employment) and a clean driving record is strongly preferred, with the ability to demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record while employed; • Ability to maintain DOT qualifications for operating vehicles over 10,000 lbs, including annual DOT medical examination, random drug screening, and adhereance to drive times and logging requirements. This position will be required to drive a truck towing a trailer or a 23-27 foot rescue vehicle intermittently; • Ability to successfully pass Animal Search and Rescue or other iteration of swiftwater and slackwater rescue training and perform related skills; • Ability to handle animals and knowledge of handling animals in an animal control or similar environment, particularly animals under stress; • Working knowledge and experience with NIMS/ICS or commitment to take and pass required courses within six months; • Ability to lead and guide staff to meet department and organizational goals. Strong knowledge of staff management practices.
