Role Description The Accounting Specialist plays a critical role in the financial operations of the organization. This position is responsible for various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial transactions and reporting. The Accounting Specialist reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborates closely with other members of the finance team. Essential Functions - Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and expense reimbursements. - Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments. Resolve discrepancies and inquiries from vendors. - Accounts Receivable: Generate customer invoices, monitor accounts receivable aging, and follow up on overdue payments. Coordinate with internal teams to resolve billing issues. - Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and accounting records. - Month-End Close: Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and generating financial reports. - Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and other ad hoc financial reports as required. - Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations. - Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and addressing audit findings. - Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the accounting function. Implement best practices to streamline processes and enhance accuracy. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as procurement, sales, and operations to address financial issues, provide support, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
