Role Description Tempo Learning faculty subject matter experts (faculty SMEs) are student-facing faculty roles. Faculty SMEs are faculty members assigned to one or more competencies based on their subject matter expertise. Role Description Contributing faculty members serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications. This is accomplished in an environment that is respectful of the student, the Faculty Member, Walden University, and the discipline in which the Faculty Member is involved. Faculty Members are expected to adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations, which are clearly set forth to the Faculty Member at the start of his/her employment with the University. Discussion Boards for classrooms are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Although postings to the classroom may be done at any time of day, they must be completed in a timely manner in accordance with the Faculty Handbook or other criteria established by Walden University. Per the faculty handbook, responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours. Faculty Members are required to verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions and to provide feedback and grades to students through Canvas. Grading is due within 7 days from the due date of the assignment. - Availability: Walden expects faculty to be reasonably accessible to students. Faculty members are expected to be available to students outside the course discussion board and in addition to providing substantive feedback on assignments and postings. Faculty members will publish their availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, and/or other appropriate documents. Role Description Collaborating with academic partners, faculty, and staff, the BSN Program Mentor provides proactive, student-centered support throughout the entirety of the BSN program. This role focuses on delivering Chamberlain Care by engaging students early and consistently, offering academic coaching, NCLEX-focused readiness strategies, and personalized reinforcement to support persistence, progression, and success. Working with students individually and in small groups, the BSN Program Mentor assesses learning styles, identifies strengths, and uncovers opportunities for academic growth. Course of instruction to include but not limited to: - Psychology (PSYC110): This course provides a foundation for understanding, predicting, and directing behavior. Organized within a framework encompassing foundations, general topics, and applications, the course provides an understanding of how psychological principles and concepts relate to professional and personal life. Topics include learning, attitude formation, personality, social influence, dynamics of communication, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership, and group roles and processes. Responsibilities: - Develops and provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives. - Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials. - Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students. - Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning. - Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories. - Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives. - Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provides timely feedback to students. - Completes other duties as assigned. - Complies with all policies and standards.
