Project Control Analyst Fully Remote • Los Angeles, CA, CA Job Type Full-time Description Project Control Analyst Fully Remote or Hybrid - Agoura Hills, CA, depending on experience Position Summary Avum is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Control Analyst to support financial management across government contracts and programs. This role partners closely with program management, finance, and leadership to ensure accurate project financials, maintain compliance with federal regulations, and provide visibility into contract performance. The ideal candidate will bring experience in a government contracting environment and have a strong understanding of Costpoint, project level financial tracking, and indirect rate structures. This role plays a key part in supporting profitability, cost control, audit readiness, and overall program financial health. Key Responsibilities - Partner with Program Managers and leadership to develop, manage, and update project budgets, forecasts, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) models - Monitor project financial performance, including revenue, costs, margins, and burn rates, and provide variance analysis and recommendations - Support job cost accounting activities, including tracking direct and indirect costs across contracts - Maintain a strong understanding of indirect cost rate structures, including fringe, overhead, and G&A, and support rate calculations and analysis - Support contract billing processes, including cost plus, time and materials, and fixed price invoicing, ensuring accuracy and compliance - Review and track labor, subcontractor, procurement, and other direct costs to ensure alignment with project budgets, funding, and ceilings - Assist with maintaining accurate timekeeping and labor distribution in accordance with DCAA requirements - Monitor contract funding, ceilings, and expenditures to ensure projects remain within scope and budget - Support incurred cost submissions and provide documentation for audit readiness, including DCAA and DCMA reviews - Support contract closeout activities, ensuring financial reconciliation and compliance with contract requirements - Support adherence to internal controls, policies, and ethical financial practices across project and accounting activities - Prepare financial reports, program reviews, and ad hoc analysis for internal leadership and external stakeholders - Support estimating and proposal preparation activities, including cost inputs and pricing support - Collaborate with accounting and finance teams on general ledger alignment and month end close activities. Support project setup, billing, and financial reporting - Assist in maintaining and improving project control processes, tools, and reporting standards Costpoint and Systems Responsibilities - Support and work within Deltek Costpoint across modules including General Ledger, Projects, Billing, Payroll, and Time and Expense - Assist with project setup, billing structures, and chart of accounts alignment to ensure compliance and accurate financial tracking - Understand how Costpoint supports DCAA compliance requirements and ensure data integrity across systems - Partner with accounting and finance teams to maintain consistency between project financials and system reporting Requirements Experience and Qualifications - Experience supporting financial management in a government contracting environment - Strong understanding of project or program control, budgeting, and financial forecasting - Hands on experience with Deltek Costpoint required - Extensive hands on Excel experience required, including advanced data analysis, financial modeling, and managing large, complex datasets in a government contracting environment - Knowledge of FAR Part 31, CAS, and DCAA requirements - Experience with job costing, indirect rate structures, and contract billing - Familiarity with cost reimbursable, time and materials, and fixed price contracts - Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights to program and leadership teams - Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Preferred Qualifications - Experience supporting DoD or federal agency contracts - Prior exposure to DCAA or DCMA audits or reviews - Experience supporting pricing, proposals, or cost estimates - Related certifications is a plus, but not required Salary Description $90,000- $125,000 Annually
• Provide expert guidance on DoD procurement policies, procedures, and regulations to internal teams and external partners. • Develop, review, and negotiate contracts, solicitations, and procurement documents in accordance with federal acquisition standards. • Support the planning and execution of procurement strategies for defense projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. • Conduct market research to identify potential vendors and assess their capabilities in meeting defense requirements. • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to defense procurement. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and technical departments, to facilitate procurement activities. • Maintain accurate documentation and records of procurement actions for audit and reporting purposes. • Stay current on changes in defense procurement regulations and industry best practices.
• Lead end-to-end coordination of software releases. • Own the end-to-end release lifecycle, establishing structured, consistent processes. • Drive planning, manage dependencies, and ensure reliable delivery. • Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, and stakeholders to define release plans. • Manage the end-to-end release lifecycle, including scheduling, coordination, and stakeholder communication. • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that may impact release quality or timelines. • Partner with QA teams to ensure releases meet quality standards. • Maintain accurate release documentation, including release notes and deployment procedures. • Facilitate communication and alignment across cross-functional teams. • Provide post-release support and troubleshooting.
• Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications using Microsoft technologies such as .NET, C#, ASP.NET and SQL Server in addition to React/Typescript • Leading the architectural design and development of software solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and technical standards • Conducting thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and security standards are met • Mentoring and guiding junior software engineers, providing technical guidance and support • Working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions • Implementing and managing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps • Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in development, staging, and production environments • Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for software solutions
• Architect and implement the transformation of monolithic systems to microservices-based architectures. • Design and maintain automated microservices factories using COTS and open-source tools to enable repeatable, scalable deployments. • Lead the evolution of ECWM’s architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability in DoD contracting environments. • Integrate low-code/no-code platforms with microservices architectures to accelerate delivery and enhance operational efficiency. • Ensure all architectural solutions comply with Government cloud security, compliance, and regulatory requirements. • Collaborate with development, operations, and technical leadership teams to define best practices, standards, and governance for microservices adoption. • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations to improve system architecture and performance. • Mentor development teams on microservices patterns, cloud architecture, and integration strategies.
• Drive all aspects of the business development lifecycle at Avum, focused on software development, cloud, AI, and emerging technology solutions for DoD and federal customers • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic growth plan and tactical pursuit plans for priority target opportunities • Lead pursuit milestone reviews including bid/no-bid decisions, strategy reviews, and capture planning sessions • Gather and analyze market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer needs to inform pursuit strategies • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including proposal, pricing, technical, and partner teams — to shape value propositions • Build and nurture strong customer relationships with senior DoD officials and program stakeholders • Lead development of winning strategies, solution positioning, and teaming approaches • Contribute to Avum’s long-term growth planning, including pipeline forecasting and multi-year growth strategies • Lead development and delivery of business development-related collateral - e.g., capability briefings and presentations • Actively and frequently represent Avum at in-person networking events, industry conferences, customer events, and partner engagements (occasional travel will be required).
• Execute comprehensive IT security audits on complex systems in accordance with DoD and Federal requirements. • Perform security control validation to verify proper implementation and effectiveness of technical, operational, and management controls. • Conduct vulnerability assessments and analyze findings to identify security gaps and risks. • Support RMF activities including control selection, implementation validation, assessment, and authorization support. • Evaluate applied security mitigations to determine alignment with security requirements and business objectives. • Validate project security controls to ensure compliance with DoD contracting system standards. • Document security findings, risk assessments, and remediation recommendations. • Maintain and update RMF artifacts and assessment results within eMASS. • Collaborate with system owners, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve security issues and implement corrective actions. • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews while ensuring accuracy and quality of deliverables.
• Lead and oversee enterprise system operations, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability. • Serve as the senior technical leader for system administration supporting mission-critical DoD contracting operations. • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise middleware solutions to support application deployment, database connectivity, and system interoperability. • Orchestrate comprehensive middleware administration, including configuration, tuning, testing, security hardening, and lifecycle management. • Implement advanced automation tools to enhance system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. • Ensure zero-downtime enterprise-scale application management across cloud-based Government systems. • Support integration with DoD contracting systems, ensuring seamless data flow through Government enterprise middleware platforms. • Enforce rigorous quality control, security, and compliance protocols aligned with DoD and Government standards. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex system issues and ensure operational continuity. • Administer and secure large-scale applications in high-availability environments.
