Job Description
QA Engineer
Bamboo
• Design and execute test plans for backend APIs, the mobile app, and the web apps, with special rigor around payment-critical flows. • Build out manual and automated test coverage for core money-movement flows: transfers, virtual card transactions, FX conversion, reconciliation, and refunds/reversals. • Own regression testing ahead of releases across all three platforms (backend, mobile, web), catching issues before they reach production. • Set up and maintain a bug-tracking and triage process, working with Engineering to prioritize fixes by severity and user impact. • Partner with Backend, Mobile, and Web Engineers early in the development cycle to define acceptance criteria and edge cases. • Build automated test suites (API-level and/or end-to-end) in partnership with engineers. • Test for security and compliance-relevant issues, including data handling, auth flows, and PCI DSS-aligned practices. • Establish QA processes and documentation as the team's first dedicated quality function. • Monitor production for quality signals post-release and feed findings back into test coverage. • Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers for project definition, technical specification, task break-down, delivery, monitoring, and maintenance. • Utilize AI responsibly and securely to improve quality and delivery of work, adhering to Misan's data sovereignty and platform security standards.
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of QA/test engineering experience, ideally including fintech, payments, or another high-stakes, regulated product.
- Comfortable testing across multiple platforms — APIs, mobile (iOS/Android), and web.
- Experience with both manual testing (exploratory, edge-case hunting) and test automation (API testing tools and/or mobile/web end-to-end frameworks).
- Thinks like an attacker and a worst-case user: looks for transaction failures, double-submits, race conditions.
- Comfortable being the first QA hire — building process and tooling from scratch rather than working within an existing one.
- Clear communicator; can write precise, reproducible bug reports and challenge scope or timeline when quality is at risk.
- Understands why "test in production" is not an acceptable strategy for money movement.
- Takes ownership of production deployment approvals.
- Proficient using git and project management tools: Gitlab, Jira, Notion, FigJam, etc.
- Known for being a creative problem solver with the attitude that there is no problem that cannot be solved, fixed, or mitigated.
- Brings positive energy, optimism about the future, determination, direct communication, and eagerness to learn.
