Field Service Engineer
General Dynamics Information Technology
• Provide on-site troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues for our equipment and systems. • Conduct root-cause analysis on hardware, software, and network issues to restore functionality. • Maximize customer satisfaction to the greatest degree possible. • Provide technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, and/or enhancement of GDIT technical products, programs, and systems. • Act as a resource to train end-users on proper system use, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. • Maintain detailed documentation of service visits, including issues identified, solutions provided, and future recommendations.
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of related experience
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- Strong customer service orientation with a problem-solving mindset
- Education: High School diploma mandatory; Bachelor of Science preferred.

Role Description North Edge Technology is looking for Field Engineers to be part of our Emergency Management Sustainment team supporting 100+ military installations worldwide. The Field Engineers will ensure Giant Voice systems are fully operational to provide a critical communication path for Emergency Managers. Candidate must have a thorough understanding of Giant Voice (GV) systems (Federal Signal, Whelen, American Signal, ATI, Cooper Wheelock, etc.) or Land Mobile Radio (LMR) (Motorola, Kenwood, Harris). This position requires that you travel 75% of the time to perform the job. - Uses engineering knowledge and methods to design, install, support, and repair technological tools and equipment at a field location. - Analyzes user needs; builds, modifies, installs, and tests products. - Troubleshoots errors or malfunctions and performs unscheduled or routine maintenance. - Creates, distributes, and maintains service or training manuals; provides on-site training. - Supports overall sustainment and repair operations of the Army’s Giant Voice and Audio-Visual Notification Systems (AVNS). - Demonstrates thorough understanding of area of responsibility. - Works closely with PM/Lead. - Provides timely and expert incident management services in strict adherence to the Service Agreement Level (SLA) metrics and Key Performance Indicators. - Documents, coordinates, and troubleshoots technical questions and reported incidents from Emergency Responders. - Trains end-users to perform resolution steps through self-service or by another area. - Documents repair information of hardware and software in conjunction with geospatial data. - Uses boom & scissor lifts, forklifts, and bucket trucks to perform repairs 20-80 feet off the ground. - Conducts research of potential resolution of assigned technical issues with teammates and OEM representatives. - Works closely with Engineering, Security, Site, and Systems Administration teams to incorporate customer feedback. - Communicates and interacts effectively with internal and external partners. - Evaluates tools, best practices, technologies, and approaches to EM service delivery problems. - Demonstrates compliance with applicable laws and regulations, especially those surrounding safety and communications. - Maintains and writes standard operating procedures.
