Director of US Controllership, Accounting Team

• Drive the monthly closing activities for the US region; and Amicus-related accounting and integration activities. • Oversight of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses and supporting schedules for SEC reporting and external audit requests. • Support contract reviews and reviews of other business transactions to determine the correct US GAAP Accounting, including providing proactive guidance to business partners and influencing business decisions. • Provide leadership and direction to teams supporting accounting operations, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and consistent delivery of month-end close and reporting objectives. • Support process transformation, standardization, and enhancements, including acting as a key business partner in SAP S/4 HANA stabilization and Amicus integration activities. • Ensure internal controls are operating effectively. • Champion opportunities to improve accounting processes through the effective use of existing technologies, AI-enabled tools, automation capabilities, and emerging solutions.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years experience in controllership, accounting, reporting, and general ledger close, preferably with a combination of Big 4 audit and public company experience.
- Expertise in US GAAP and internal controls.
- Experience with ERPs (e.g. SAP, Oracle); experience in ERP implementations a plus.
- Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams in dynamic environments, including through integration, change management, or process transformation activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong collaboration skills with an enterprise leadership mentality.

Role Description We are looking for a versatile finance leader to join our team in a dual role: - Internal (20%): Act as Lazo’s controller, overseeing internal reporting, financial operations, and contributing to key OKRs. - Client-facing (80%): Lead and grow our Fractional CFO and FP&A services, advising a portfolio of startups and helping scale this business unit. You’ll bridge internal excellence with client advisory, deliver valuable insights across our customer base, and help build out the next evolution of our CFO services. Responsibilities - Act as the bridge between the bookkeeping team and the client, bringing value beyond the numbers. - Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and financial structure for our clients. - Work closely with the bookkeeping team to understand each client’s business and transform raw data into valuable insights. - Lead the early development of an internal Finance Advisory function to support our clients with forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and more.
