Job Description

Senior Business Development Manager

D2B

Role Description This is not a junior appointment-setting role. We are looking for a senior, commercially mature BDM who can personally generate and qualify pipeline in the initial phase, while also helping design the repeatable sales infrastructure required to scale the function over time. The person must be hands-on in the first 3-6 months. We do not want someone who only manages others or only expects inbound leads. They need to make calls, run LinkedIn outreach, send emails, qualify prospects, and book high-quality meetings. At the same time, they need to be senior enough to qualify opportunities properly before they reach leadership. We do not want a high volume of weak appointments creating a bottleneck. Key Responsibilities - Build targeted prospect lists across New Zealand and Australia. - Generate outbound pipeline for Salesforce services and CRM / BI. - Run outbound calls, LinkedIn outreach, and email campaigns. - Qualify leads before involving leadership. - Conduct initial discovery conversations with prospects. - Identify genuine business pain, budget potential, urgency, decision makers, and fit. - Book qualified meetings with the right stakeholders. - Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline hygiene. - Help define scripts, outreach messaging, objection handling, and qualification criteria. - Provide weekly reporting on activities, conversations, qualified opportunities, and pipeline progress. - Work directly with leadership to refine the go-to-market motion. - Help define the future hiring profile for SDR or appointment-setting roles once the motion is proven. Qualifications - Senior B2B sales or business development experience. - Experience selling technology, SaaS, CRM, ERP, Salesforce, data, AI, consulting, or professional services. - Strong spoken English suitable for NZ and AU executive conversations. - Ability to hold credible conversations with CEOs, CFOs, Heads of Sales, Operations Managers, IT leaders, and business owners. - Strong qualification discipline. - Confidence making outbound calls. - Strong email and LinkedIn outreach capability. - Strong CRM discipline. - Ability to work independently and report clearly. - Commercial maturity and resilience.
