As a member of the Payables team, our Escheatment Accountant maintains control over the disbursements of Company payments ensuring the safeguarding of Corporate funds – all in service of creating a person-focused health care experience. Qualifications - High school degree. - 2 years of general accounting, accounts payable or disbursement accountant experience. - Completion of introductory college level accounting classes, or a combination of education and experience. - Experience using a variety of personal computer software applications to perform accounting functions, including Intermediate to Advanced Excel, Word, email, and calendaring software. - Experience with payables ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, Workday, etc. - Knowledge of mathematics to make simple calculations. - General office practices and procedures; operating expense and cost allocation coding. - Ability to process detailed data in an accurate manner. - Operate 10-Key by touch. - Exercise sound judgment and discretion in confidential matters. - Identify and prioritize workload to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. - Demonstrated multi-tasking capability. - Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels internally and externally. - Provide excellent customer service both internally and externally. - Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making in professional settings highly desired. Requirements - Research state rules and regulations related to abandoned property due process, research requirements, documentation, filings, etc. - Recommend process changes to management as needed to meet state-specific requirements. - Analyze outstanding check data for accuracy, making appropriate corrections to ensure accurate payments and protect corporate funds. - Execute/manage the issuance of due diligence letters, take inquiries, and reissue checks as necessary. - Maintain detailed reports of claims payments per prescribed methodology. - Send monthly stale dated letters to payees and monitor responses. - Maintain check control logs and claims balancing information. - Research outstanding issues, place stop payment orders, and generate replacement payments as necessary. - Apply payable best practices and generally acceptable practices and protocols to all payment requests. - Prepare state filings inclusive of all required documentation and voucher check requests. - Utilize workflow or other technologies to research outstanding issues and update applicable systems. - Utilize imaging and data depository systems to respond to research inquiries and requests. - Create and maintain a record of voided checks and check tracers. - Adhere to MAR and SOC1 controls and complete quality assurance reviews. - Meet or exceed all stated performance production metrics.
