Senior Solutions Architect – Airflow

Astronomer

• Lead architecture reviews, workshops, and technical design sessions with engineering teams and executive stakeholders. • Design end-to-end platform architectures integrating Airflow with cloud infrastructure, compute frameworks, and data platforms. • Review delivery work to ensure high standards for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence. • Diagnose and resolve issues, guide customers through deployments, migrations, and platform modernization. • Build reusable tools, frameworks, reference architectures, and best practices that improve delivery quality across the organization.

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture
  • Airflow expertise authoring and deploying Dags to production, monitoring execution, and troubleshooting failures.
  • Experience tuning Airflow performance, refactoring Dag code, right-sizing infrastructure, and implementing data quality checks and alerts.
  • Proven track record of guiding customers through platform deployments, migrations, or technical transformations, managing scope, timelines, and stakeholder conflicts.
  • Strong background in designing cloud native data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP, with familiarity in enterprise networking, security, and identity patterns.
  • Programming experience in Python and SQL.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Track record leading architecture discussions and driving technical decisions with engineering leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; can translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready architectures.
