Role Description The Applications Architect is responsible for leading the design, development, modernization, integration, and support of enterprise .NET applications and critical business systems. This role serves as a senior technical leader and subject matter expert, providing architectural guidance, mentoring development teams, and delivering scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. The position supports high-profile enterprise initiatives, application integrations, cloud modernization efforts, DevOps practices, and production support activities while ensuring alignment with organizational standards and long-term technology strategy. Key Responsibilities - Enterprise Application Architecture & Development - Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level applications and integration solutions - Provide architectural leadership for complex, mission-critical systems and enhancements - Develop scalable and reusable application frameworks, components, and services - Support .NET and .NET Core applications across the enterprise - Design and implement robust n-tier application architectures - Drive modernization initiatives for existing applications and platforms - System Integration & Technical Solutions - Design and implement integrations across enterprise applications and external systems - Develop custom APIs, web services, interfaces, and data exchange solutions - Support multilingual application frameworks and enterprise communication platforms - Ensure seamless integration between business-critical applications and databases - Provide expertise regarding application interoperability and enterprise architecture - Technical Leadership & Architecture Governance - Serve as a senior technical expert across multiple technologies and business domains - Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and technical governance activities - Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards and best practices - Support technical change control initiatives including estimates, code refactoring, and solution reviews - Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies - Cloud, DevOps & Automation - Design and support Azure-based cloud-native application solutions - Develop and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines, release automation, and build processes - Manage branching, merging, source control strategies, and deployment workflows - Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices - Support environment configuration and deployment automation across development, testing, and production - Production Support & Operational Excellence - Support production deployments and troubleshoot complex deployment issues - Resolve high-severity application and system issues - Participate in system enhancement, maintenance, and operational support activities - Provide root-cause analysis and remediation for business-critical incidents - Maintain availability as a technical escalation resource - Data & Database Development - Design, optimize, and support Oracle and SQL Server databases - Perform SQL tuning and performance optimization activities - Develop data access strategies and enterprise data integration solutions - Support relational database modeling and data architecture initiatives - AI-Assisted Development & Innovation - Utilize approved enterprise AI tools including GitHub Copilot Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot in accordance with organizational policies - Incorporate AI-assisted development practices to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation - Review, validate, and refine AI-generated output to ensure quality, accuracy, security, and compliance - Identify and mitigate risks related to AI-assisted software development - Implement secure and responsible AI development practices aligned with enterprise governance standards - Mentorship & Collaboration - Serve as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and technical leader - Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, developers, QA teams, and project managers - Provide technical guidance to development teams and junior staff - Support organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience - 15 or more years of experience designing and developing enterprise applications using .NET technologies - 15 or more years of experience with C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, and .NET Core/.NET 8 - 15 or more years of experience using Visual Studio and Microsoft development tools - Extensive experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server development and administration - Strong object-oriented design and development experience - Experience developing and supporting n-tier enterprise architectures - Experience with Azure DevOps, source control, branching, and CI/CD pipelines - Experience leading complex technology projects and serving in senior technical leadership roles - Experience supporting production deployments and troubleshooting deployment issues - Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle practices - Experience producing technical documentation and architecture artifacts Preferred Qualifications - Experience with Azure App Services and cloud-native application development -
