Field Service Technician
ABB
• Execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines. • Deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation. • Communicate service work timeline and expectations to ensure customer retention. • Maintain quality control hardware and software, and troubleshoot issues with systems. • Answer customer questions about the state of the ABB system. • Resolve customer service-related issues while fostering customer relationships. • Document the work performed for preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks. • Play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, installations, or new functionality. • Coordinate work with other groups to ensure commitments are met. • Lead Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities at customer sites.
Job Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related experience required; OR HS diploma/GED and 7+ years of related experience required.
- Mechanical/Electrical aptitude including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety; ability to use electrical test equipment
- Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems
- Ability to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC.
- Comfortable using basic hand tools.
- Basic understanding of the paper making process and process control preferred; Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.
- Travel up to 15% for training and assisting other sites as needed.
- Applicants should possess a work authorization that would allow them to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.

• Execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines. • Deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation. • Showcase expertise by ensuring customer retention by effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations. • Work with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points. • Perform field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and perform analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform. • Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensure that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities. • Act as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers.
