Manager of Counseling Services

Connections Academy

• From your home office or our office in Athens, the Manager of Counseling Services will work in conjunction with the school's leadership team to help students, ensuring that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. • Provide directions to staff and assist students and parents in understanding and meeting graduation requirements, course selection and scheduling, post-secondary school planning, and crisis intervention. • Support the teachers in exhibiting and maintaining a high level of professionalism, instructional support and customer service. • Ensure the academic success of individual students by utilizing all levels of academic support available and maintaining a high level of communication with parents. • Assist teaching staff with implementing any program changes and/or new software application introductions as appropriate to support student success. • Exhibit high-quality communication with all staff, students, and families. • Provide specified assistance to families in need of additional support to prevent unnecessary withdrawals and encourage high participation levels. • Participate in student recruitment efforts including in-state trips, presentations, Q&A sessions and responding to the press.

Job Requirements

  • Min of 5 years Counseling experience, with preferably three years in a virtual setting
  • Alabama Counseling Credential endorsement preferred
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Customer focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
  • Team player track record

Role Description Ensures that an account is established for every scheduled patient. Obtains complete and accurate patient demographics, insurance plan and benefits information, and ensures treatment authorization is secured in advance of the scheduled procedure while maintaining a minimum accuracy rate on reviewed accounts as defined by departmental standards. - Verifies patients’ insurance coverage, eligibility, and Point of Service financial obligation for all scheduled services, and documents the system in detail. - Adheres to all third party payer requirements for both government and commercial payers. - Determines insurance eligibility and coverage, obtains/confirms authorization to avoid non-compliance and penalties to the patient, health system and physician. - Communicates current Medicare requirements, HIPAA compliance and reimbursement criteria. - Collaborates with Case Management to ensure patient status is correct and documentation is provided to insurances as needed. - Creates and/or updates hospital account. - Obtains and enters into hospital information system required patient demographics and insurance information in a timely manner after procedure is scheduled. - Documents all information according to departmental guidelines. - Provides feedback to supervisor on changes/updates implemented by insurances as obtained. - Contacts patients to verify demographic information and to perform financial counseling prior to time of service. - Collects patient responsibility due, provides information on payment plans and financial assistance as necessary. - Follows department and network policies concerning discounts, package rates and basic financial assistance.
