Job Description

Legal Research Mentor

Inspira Education

We are looking for a Research Mentor to support high-achieving pre-law students through the development and completion of original research projects across law, legal studies, public policy, political science, and related disciplines. If you hold a JD and/or PhD and are passionate about mentorship, this role is an excellent fit. This is a part-time, remote, 1099 contract role that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. Mentor undergraduate students through the full research process, from topic selection and study design to execution and final deliverables Guide students in developing feasible, high-quality research questions aligned with their academic and career goals Provide structured feedback on research plans, data interpretation, and written research drafts Help students understand research standards and discipline-specific expectations Support students pursuing outcomes such as academic papers, posters, or journal submissions, depending on program scope Track progress against defined milestones and timelines to ensure consistent forward momentum

Job Requirements

  • JD and/or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., law, legal studies, public policy, political science, or related disciplines)
  • Demonstrated experience conducting academic or legal research
  • Strong background in research design, data analysis, and academic writing
  • Experience mentoring students or trainees
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning, organization, and project management skills
  • A passion for mentorship and student development
