Charge Capture Specialist I

Role Description The role involves reviewing and analyzing patient medical records to assign appropriate CPT and HCPCS codes for outpatient or professional fee encounters under general supervision. - Ensure all coding is compliant with official coding guidelines and organizational policies. - Maintain established entry-level coding accuracy, quality, and productivity standards. - Collaborate with teammates to achieve shared goals and performance metrics. - Adhere strictly to HIPAA and organizational compliance standards. - Stay informed of updated coding principles and regulatory guidelines for accurate charge assignment. Qualifications - AHIMA or AAPC Coding Certification required. - High School Diploma or Equivalent required. - Advanced training in Medical Coding or related field preferred. - Associate’s degree in healthcare, business, or HIM preferred. Requirements - 0-1 years of experience in professional or hospital coding. - Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines. - Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic coding systems. - Basic communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. - Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment. - Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively. Role Description The Charge Entry Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of our medical charges. - Posts charges received through import by correct coding guidelines. - Posts charges received manually by correct coding guidelines. - Review encounter tracking to ensure all billing is captured. - Effectively communicates with site managers to obtain all necessary information for billing. - Effectively communicates with physicians to resolve billing issues.
