Generator Field Technician – Commercial, LV/MV Electrical, Power Distribution, Mechanical, Microgrid, Data Center

• Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment • Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects. • Daily travel with independent work structure • Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call. • Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments • Battery installations and replacements • Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled • Customer contact and interface • Communicate availability status to corporate office • Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records • Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary • Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary • Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition • Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards • Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately • Provide technical support to customers upon request • Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review • Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary
Job Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications for Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+
- Proficient Level III Technician requires six years of field experience servicing generator systems with extensive experience on 500KW+
- Proficient with preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, ATS repairs, controller retrofits and Loadbanking equipment
- Level IV Technician requires ten years of field experience servicing generator systems of all sizes and applications
- Expert in preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, retrofitting advanced controls and Loadbanking equipment
- All Candidates need a High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Expert in major engine repairs, able to diagnose a wide variety on various applications
- Experienced with Volvo and PSI engines
- Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems, able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
- Must observe all safety standards.
- Mentor Mid to High level techs as requested.

• Support the Wind operating fleet in all aspects of operations • Primary focus on in-field troubleshooting and return to service efforts • Partner with site teams to return turbines to service while training newer technicians • Travel within the US fleet to support Invenergy owned and third party contracted sites • Diagnose faults and repair equipment in a safe and efficient manner • Support pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, and/or processes • Assist with managing deliverables and contractual obligations • Prepare and implement operating procedures which comply with company, customer, and industry standards • Support High Voltage switching, as needed • Identify, document, and communicate opportunities for operational and quality improvements • Provide a high level of professionalism and technical expertise, while working with minimal oversight • Lead, assist and work alongside technicians in all aspects of their required job duties • Perform on-the-job (OJT) training functions with site technicians • Evaluate and supervise contractor scope and repair work • Perform QA/QC inspections at all locations across the fleet
