Professional Position Details: The Opportunity: The Complex Social Interactions Lab (CSI) at Washington State University is pleased to announce an opening for a Lab Manager. Driven by a mission to develop practical, freely available tools for evidence-based policing, the CSI Lab specializes in analyzing body-worn camera footage to enhance community-police interactions. In supporting this sensitive work, you will direct compliance and procedural development, ensuring adherence to university and federal guidelines by independently managing IRB ethics documentation, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). In this pivotal role, you will serve as the operational backbone of the lab, directly managing day-to-day laboratory workflows, project timelines, and fiscal budgets - manage project expenditures, coordinate logistics for internal and external stakeholders, and compile administrative and budgetary components for major grant proposals., while assisting with undergraduate research experiences and conducting research. Allocating 50% of the workload to direct research engagement, you will actively collaborate on the lab's initiatives, which include developing web applications for domestic violence investigations, studying officer stress, and conducting multimodal de-escalation training studies utilizing natural language processing (NLP). Responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, managing advanced data-collection pipelines, and training students in specialized video-analysis techniques. Mirroring the lab’s research framework, the ideal candidate will actively contribute to the scientific community by drafting progress reports, designing visual data structures, and co-authoring manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations. You will also serve as a mentor and liaison for large cohorts of 80-100 students enrolled in our 3-credit course each academic year. This position is based on the WSU Pullman campus in Pullman, Washington. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional Information: This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible. This twelve-month, fixed-term position with the possibility of annual renewal up to three (3) years from the hire date. The anticipated hire date is 08/16/2026. Renewal depends on satisfactory performance, the continued need for the position, and availability of funding. Monthly Salary: $4,508.70 to $6,763.06 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position.
