Job Description
Associate Product Manager
UPS
Role Description Marken is building the technology that moves time-critical logistics forward. Our transportation management system, MxTMS, is central to that mission — and we’re looking for an Associate Product Manager to help us build it right. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy and delivery. You’ll work closely with a Product Manager to translate high-level vision into clear, actionable direction for our development teams — writing specs, validating solutions with real users, and making sure quality is never an afterthought. You’ll also take ownership of our Pendo implementation to ensure we’re measuring what matters and continuously improving based on how people actually use the product. This is an individual contributor role with real scope and visibility. For the right person, it’s also a genuine stepping stone into a full Product Manager position and will actively develop you toward it if that’s the direction you want to grow. What You’ll Do - Product Definition & Delivery - Partner with the Product Manager to break down product strategy into well-scoped specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria — and critically evaluate them to catch misaligned assumptions before they get built. - Create wireframes and mockups using AI tools and Figma to communicate intent clearly and validate ideas early. - Facilitate backlog refinement and sprint planning to keep work well-sequenced and unblocked. - Serve as a primary point of contact for development teams on day-to-day questions, ensuring decisions stay aligned with the broader product direction. - Discovery & Stakeholder Engagement - Engage directly with internal stakeholders and customers to understand problems, pressure-test assumptions, and build shared clarity on what we’re building and why. - Contribute to continuous discovery by synthesizing user insights into clear opportunity framing — knowing what questions to ask and what to do with the answers matters more than any specific research method. - Help evaluate tradeoffs between scope, quality, and timeline and communicate those tradeoffs clearly. - Quality & Analytics - Guide testing strategy to ensure quality is embedded throughout the development process, not bolted on at the end. - Own Marken’s Pendo implementation for MxTMS — defining tagging strategy, building out instrumentation, and establishing a rhythm of behavioral insight that actively informs what we build next. - Go beyond reporting: turn analytics into sharp observations and recommendations that drive prioritization decisions. Qualifications - 1–3 years of experience in a business analyst, associate product manager, or similar product-adjacent role. - Strong product intuition — you think about problems before solutions and care about building the right thing, not just the next thing. - Excellent written and verbal communication; you can translate complexity into clarity for engineers, stakeholders, and executives alike. - Comfortable working at the detail level — writing specs, mapping user flows, and documenting edge cases — without losing sight of the bigger picture. - A genuine enthusiasm for using AI tools to work smarter and move faster. - Working familiarity with APIs and data concepts; you don’t need to write code, but you can hold a substantive conversation with a developer about how systems work. - Collaborative by default, curious by nature, and a disciplined critical thinker. Requirements - Experience with any of our core toolset: Pendo (analytics), Aha! (roadmapping and user research), Azure DevOps (backlog management), or Figma (design and prototyping) — most can be learned on the job. - SQL proficiency — the ability to query data directly is a meaningful advantage in this role, even as AI tooling continues to lower that bar. - Familiarity with Power BI; you’ll collaborate with our internal reporting teams to build out dashboards and operational reports. - Background in logistics, supply chain, healthcare, or other operationally complex B2B environments. - Exposure to agile delivery methods and working in cross-functional product teams. Location This role is fully remote. We have an office in Raleigh, NC available for those who want it, but there is no location requirement or preference. Our engineering teams are based in India, so early morning availability is a real part of this job. Expect to be online before 9am ET most weekdays — up to four days a week — for standups and team collaboration. Basic Qualifications - Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
