Pencil

Pencil uses AI to make ads. Our mission is to make marketing effective and effortless. We want to become the default way ads get made — because AI ads are 10x faster and cheaper to make, and 2x better performing, than making them without AI. Pencil was founded in 2018 with a team from Google, Facebook and Uber with backing from Sequoia and Entrepreneur First. We were acquired by The Brandtech Group in 2023 to pursue a shared vision of bringing GenAI to the Fortune 500.

Job Description

Senior Product Manager

Pencil

Role Description You'll take over ownership of our platform that provides enterprise marketing teams and internal users with advanced planning and briefing capabilities. You'll work closely with Engineering, Design and Creative teams to ship products that are innovative, reliable, and commercially impactful. This is a role for someone who loves experimentation, understands the realities of modern AI, and thrives in an environment where the future is constantly being rewritten. - Drive product strategy and delivery for your area. - Conduct product discovery through user research, data analysis, prototyping, and experiments to validate what really solves customer problems. - Translate ambiguous opportunities into clear product plans, using structured thinking to bring focus, priorities, and alignment across teams. - Create crisp PRDs, collaborate deeply with Design, and push projects from ideation to shipped with real tenacity. - Define and evolve key systems such as workflows, agent behaviours, platform frameworks, APIs and creative tools, which combine human creativity with intelligent automation. - Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Creative, and Go To Market teams to take features from concept to launch and iteration. - Stay close to AI developments, understanding model capabilities, release cycles, and integration considerations so we build with the best available tools. - Balance innovation with operational pragmatism, making trade-offs that keep us fast today and scalable tomorrow. Qualifications - Proven experience as a Senior Product Manager working on AI-enabled products, ideally experienced with creative, marketing or advertising technology, or complex platforms. - Experience driving products from 0 → 1 and 1 → n, ideally in environments with high ambiguity and rapid iteration. - Strong understanding of AI model behaviour, limitations, and opportunities, and how to design products that harness emerging capabilities responsibly. - Experience structuring complex problem spaces, simplifying decisions, and creating clarity for teams. - Strong product discovery skills: leading discovery workshops, forming hypotheses, running experiments, gathering insight from users and data. - Experience working closely with cross-functional partners, including Engineering, Design and Commercial. - Familiarity with creative ecosystems is a plus but not required. Requirements - Curious and adaptable: thrive on learning what’s new and applying it quickly. - A structured thinker: bring order to fast-moving, loosely defined spaces. - Resilient and optimistic: see constraints as creative challenges. - Commercially minded: connect product vision that solves customer problems with business outcomes. - Collaborative and communicative: build strong, trusting relationships across teams. KPIs & Success Measures - Delivery, adoption and engagement of new product capabilities that drive clients’ expected outcomes. - Positive feedback from external and internal users on product quality, usefulness, and ease of integration. - Improvements in efficiency, speed, stability, and output quality for workflows and tools you own. - Contribution to frameworks, systems, or product foundations that empower other teams to build effectively. - Clear documentation, roadmaps, and decision-making that help teams move quickly and in sync. - Demonstrable impact on customer results, creative quality, or campaign performance through the product capabilities you deliver. Benefits - 25 days PTO plus public holidays, although we operate a Flexible Time Off scheme. - Health insurance / private medical cover. - Monthly stipend towards wellness, fitness, and learning and development. - Remote - work from anywhere in your home country. - Enhanced parental leave policies, whether you become a parent through birth, adoption or surrogacy. - Access to our Pencil office in The Shard, London for UK employees. - Flexible working hours.
