Job Description
Senior Content Designer
Function Health
Role Description We're seeking a Senior Content Designer to own the voice of Function across product and member communication—a sharp thinker who understands that great copy doesn't fill space, it earns trust. This isn't a role for someone who steps in after the UX decisions are made. You're in the room where those decisions happen, shaping how Function thinks, speaks, and connects at every touchpoint. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Design and PMM teams to ensure that every piece of copy feels simple and supportive, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. You write with clarity and conviction and know the difference between copy that explains and copy that moves. You can hold the brand voice at scale while tuning to context—a lab result summary reads differently than an onboarding moment, which reads differently than a paywall. You hold all of it with coherence. AI is a new content material, and we treat it that way. This role requires someone who has already internalized that shift. If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and are deeply motivated by Function's mission—we'd love to meet you. Key Responsibilities - Product copy across all touchpoints including in-app flows, onboarding, member communications, notifications, action plans, empty states, error handling, and more. - Brand voice stewardship: define, evolve, and defend Function's voice across surfaces and contributors. - Cross-functional collaboration with Design, Product, and Clinical to ensure copy is accurate, human, and on-brand. Always flagging inconsistencies, and raising copy-related edge cases early in the process. - UX writing upstream of design decisions. You’ll shape the full experience. - Data-informed iteration such as A/B testing, member feedback, and performance data as tools for continuous improvement. - Editorial review: You’ll raise the standard of copy org-wide, not just your own output. Qualifications - 5+ years of UX writing or product copywriting experience, ideally in a consumer health, wellness, or complex-product context with a portfolio that demonstrates range. - Fluency across copy types with a consistent quality across all of them: in-product flows, email, campaign headlines, onboarding, error states. - Strong instinct for voice and tone calibration. You can write warmly and precisely for a member reading a sensitive health result, and sharply for a conversion moment, knowing which is which. - Experience in health, wellness, or clinical tech is a meaningful differentiator: comfort with medical terminology, regulatory constraints, and high-stakes information hierarchies. - Collaborative by default. You work closely with designers, PMs, and clinicians, and make the work better through that friction. - Comfort working directly in Figma, managing your own workload across multiple concurrent projects, and writing copy that doesn't need a lot of hand-holding to land. - You have an AI-native mindset, understanding how LLMs generate language, where they produce noise, and how to work with and around them deliberately. - You use AI tooling actively. Claude, Cursor, or equivalent — to accelerate ideation, draft generation, and iteration without sacrificing voice quality. - You can design content for agentic experiences. You've thought carefully about how a product communicates when the system is doing the work, not just responding to a prompt. - You think critically about AI-generated copy: you know when it's useful scaffolding and when it's eroding the voice, and can act accordingly. - *Please share a portfolio of work in order to be considered. Core Values - Ruthless Prioritization: We don’t let perfect get in the way of progress. We move quickly to drive value, not perfection. We prioritize what drives impact. We never compromise on standards of excellence. - Member-First, Always: We design and deliver like we’re caring for someone we love. We create calendar, actionable, human experience. We prioritize responsiveness, peace of mind, and outcomes. We empower members with truth, clarity, and care. - One Team, Moving Fast: We are aligned in purpose, prioritization, and speed. We gather diverse perspectives to make informed decisions. We clear paths for each other and move fast together. We communicate clearly and respectfully, rallying around shared goals. - Radical Ownership, Relentless Execution: We don’t just ship– we own outcomes and drive results. We act with urgency and precision. We anticipate, initiate, and follow through. We meet challenges with grit and pragmatism. We embrace new tech to deliver better outcomes. - Mission Over Ego: We are ruthlessly aligned to our mission– and leave ego at the door. We disagree and commit. We don't tolerate politics or withholding information. We operate with honesty, transparency, and respect. - Sustained Integrity in Every Detail: We earn trust by obsessing over accuracy, quality, and clarity in everything we do. We prioritize clinical precision– data must be right. We sweat the details because outcomes depend on them. Benefits - Competitive salary and benefits package. - Flexible working hours. - A dynamic work environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged. Important Notice Legitimate communication from the Function Health team will always come from an email address ending in @functionhealth.com. Function Health will never request personal information such as banking details or payment during the hiring process. Please be cautious of communications or job offers that come from other email domains, instant messaging platforms, or unsolicited calls. If you ever have doubts about the legitimacy of a communication, please reach out to us directly at talent@functionhealth.com.
