• Manage a team of direct reports within the IT Engineering division. • Collaborate with executive leadership on datacenter lifecycles and contract renewals. • Oversee and prioritize technical project execution. • Establish goals and priorities for staff consistent with departmental objectives. • Ensure deliverables are on target with goals. • May be responsible for team formations and associated assignments. • Develop processes for management reports, statistics, and performance measures. • Establish an environment where staff learns to be self-sufficient and competent. • Coach and monitor staff in continuous performance improvement and development.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related discipline, or equivalent professional work experience.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering or cloud operations.
- Proven track record of supervising technical staff or complex cross-datacenter infrastructure roadmaps.
- Must demonstrate recent, proven experience heavily balancing daily management duties with direct, hands-on technical execution.
- Prior formal experience as a fully hands-on engineering manager, team lead, or senior technical authority.
- Extensive hands-on experience engineering, maintaining, and actively configuring Ubuntu environments, Puppet automation platforms, and bare-metal orchestration tools (MAAS).
- Hands-on background executing datacenter footprint migrations, handling hardware procurement, and directly engineering/managing virtualization boundaries (including OpenStack, LXD, KVM, and ESXi lifecycles).
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Active Directory management, enterprise certificate enrollment processes, identity tooling, and maintaining critical trust layers across corporate domain controllers.
- Deep, hands-on familiarity with the intricacies of CEPH architecture and administration for long-term persistent storage.
- Technical proficiency evaluating, planning, and actively managing physical/SAN storage equipment, such as PureStorage or enterprise S3-compatible targets.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with MicroCloud deployment/management frameworks.
- Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions.
- Requires excellent communication skills with the ability to state messages clearly by using language that is easy for others to understand.
