Senior Operations Specialist
Function Health
Role Description The Senior Operations Specialist is the senior individual contributor in the Operational Readiness & Implementation team. This role owns end-to-end delivery of ORI's initiatives — including product launches, growth campaigns, and brand partnerships — while serving as the team's primary subject matter authority and a key advisor to the Manager. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy. The Senior Operations Specialist owns the project plan, drives cross-functional alignment, and is accountable for delivery quality from intake through post-launch stabilization. They are not handed a playbook — they build it. They do not escalate most problems — they solve them. The Senior Ops Specialist is also responsible for the day-to-day direction of the Operations Specialist, providing guidance on task execution, initiative context, and professional development without formal management authority. Qualifications - 3-5 years experience in operations, member operations, program management, implementation, healthcare operations, or operational strategy. - Demonstrated track record of owning and delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives independently. - Deep experience designing operational enablement programs such as SOPs, playbooks, and training frameworks at scale. - Strong executive communication skills; able to synthesize complexity and present clearly to senior audiences. - Strong risk management and systems-thinking capability. - Experience providing informal guidance or direction to junior team members. - High comfort with ambiguity; proven ability to create structure and drive clarity where none exists. - Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with competing priorities and evolving workstreams. Requirements - End-to-End Initiative Ownership - Own project plans for ORI initiatives from intake through post-launch review — defining scope, milestones, dependencies, success criteria, and risk posture. - Serve as the primary point of accountability for delivery quality and on-time execution across assigned programs. - Proactively identify and resolve cross-functional blockers before they impact launch readiness. - Make judgment calls on prioritization, scope management, and risk mitigation within their portfolio. - Operational Readiness Strategy & Risk Assessment - Lead structured impact assessments across workflows, tooling, staffing, SLAs, and member experience. - Develop and maintain risk-based readiness frameworks and launch checklists. - Identify operational failure points and own the mitigation strategy. - Provide formal readiness assessments and go/no-go recommendations to the Manager. - Subject Matter Authority - Serve as the team's deepest SME across all active ORI initiatives — product launches, growth programs, and brand partnerships. - Translate complex operational requirements into clear, actionable guidance for stakeholders at all levels. - Maintain comprehensive institutional knowledge of ORI's initiative portfolio. - Represent ORI as the expert voice in cross-functional planning sessions and executive reviews. - Enablement Architecture - Own ORI's enablement infrastructure — SOPs, playbooks, launch readiness checklists, and training programs for ops stakeholders. - Ensure enablement materials are scalable, evergreen, and built for teams that will execute independently after handoff. - Identify systemic gaps in documentation coverage and develop solutions proactively. - Set the quality standard for enablement outputs across the team. - Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement - Influence upstream decisions — in product, marketing, and partnerships — that have downstream operational implications. - Advocate for ORI's priorities and capacity in planning forums and stakeholder discussions. - Team Mentor - Provide day-to-day guidance and task direction to the Operations Specialist. - Serve as a thought partner and sounding board when the OS navigates complex or novel situations. - Model strong project management practices, documentation standards, and cross-functional communication norms. - Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement - Lead root cause analyses for operational breakdowns. - Drive post-launch stabilization and time-to-stability improvements. - Recommend process, staffing, or tooling adjustments based on performance data. - Decision Rights & Accountability - Owns end-to-end delivery accountability for assigned initiatives. - Makes independent judgment calls on prioritization, scope, and risk mitigation. - Advises the Manager on go/no-go readiness, resourcing gaps, and team capacity. - Resolves most issues autonomously; escalates only the highest-severity risks. Benefits - Competitive salary and benefits package. - Flexible working hours. - Dynamic work environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged.
