As the Project Coordinator you will - Coordinate and deliver facility projects from planning and procurement through construction and close-out, ensuring work aligns with established scope, schedule, and budget parameters. - Support the development and implementation of larger capital improvement projects and strategic programs—such as sustainability, technology, accessibility, and safety—by coordinating assigned tasks, maintaining documentation, and supporting communication across project teams under the direction of a supervisor. - Prepare project scopes, budgets, and schedules; assists with procurement, solicitation, and contract administration; and coordinates the work of consultants, contractors, and Zoo staff to ensure compliance with public contracting rules and Metro standards. - Collaborate across Zoo departments to plan and schedule work that minimizes operational impacts to guests, staff, animal care; monitors field activities, reviews submittals, tracks progress and maintains accurate documentation and reports using enterprise software and other project management tools. - Contribute to process improvements, promotes collaboration, and supports planning and reporting efforts that advance Zoo operations and strategic goals. - Demonstrates Metro’s core competencies of: - Public Service. Working Conditions Work is performed in both office and field environments. The position regularly requires moving between office settings, workshops, and outdoor areas throughout the Zoo campus. Incumbent is exposed to typical office conditions as well as variable outdoor weather, noise, and equipment in operation. Work may involve walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs or ladders, and moving over uneven terrain or construction areas. The role may require lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects as needed. Duties may bring the incumbent into proximity with animals, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols and awareness of animal welfare considerations. Work is often performed in public areas during guest hours, requiring professional conduct, awareness of visitor safety, and minimizing disruptions to guest experience. The position requires frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and irregularities in the work schedule, including occasional evening, weekend, or emergency response work. This position requires the work to be performed on-site. Teleworking is not an option.
