Job Description

Part-Time Commodity Market Economist

Spotlock

Role Description We are looking for a sharp, curious, and analytical person to join us part-time as a Commodity Market Economist. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of financial markets, commodities, global trade, AI, and real-world business decision-making. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys following markets, understanding what drives price movements, and turning complex information into practical insights. What you'll do: - Help shape the market intelligence layer of Spotlock's AI platform. - Provide each client with tailored insights about their specific commodities, exposures, risks, and relevant market developments. - Follow commodity markets, financial news, macro events, and supply chain developments. - Analyze how market events may affect commodity prices and client exposures. - Turn financial and market information into clear, practical insights. - Manage and improve market intelligence content inside the Spotlock platform. - Work hands-on with the system to structure, review, and refine client-specific insights. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, or a relevant analytical field. - Strong analytical thinking and independent judgment. - Ability to read and understand financial/economic information. - Interest in commodity markets, global trade, macroeconomics, and market-moving events. - Strong written communication skills. - High attention to detail. - Comfortable working with digital systems and learning new tools. - Strong English and Hebrew writing/reading skills. Requirements - Currently studying for an MA or PhD in Economics, Finance, or a related field. - Experience with financial research, market analysis, economic research, or data analysis. - Familiarity with commodities, supply chains, procurement, or trading. Benefits - This is not a standard student research role. - You will help build the intelligence layer of a real AI-driven product used by companies dealing with volatile commodity markets. - Your work will directly affect how businesses understand risks, interpret market events, and make better decisions. - You will gain hands-on exposure to commodity risk management, financial markets, AI-based workflows, and the way market movements translate into real business impact. - For someone interested in economics, markets, technology, and global trade, this is a rare opportunity to get meaningful experience in a fast-moving startup environment. Role Details This is a part-time, hourly-based role of approximately 10–20 hours per week, fully remote and with flexible working hours. The scope can be adjusted based on the candidate's availability and fit. How to Apply Please send your CV and a short note including: - Your academic/professional background. - Why financial markets, commodity markets, or global events interest you. - Your weekly availability.
