Role Description We are seeking a Fiber Network Engineer to support the design, documentation, and management of physical fiber optic infrastructure across a large-scale telecommunications network. This role focuses on outside plant (OSP) fiber design, route engineering, and network inventory management to support fiber-based services. The ideal candidate has experience in fiber network planning, GIS-based tools, and telecom infrastructure design, with strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate across engineering, GIS, sales engineering, and field operations teams. Key Responsibilities - Design fiber routes for network services including point-to-point, ring, and path-diverse architectures - Develop fiber design schematics for new builds, relocations, and restoration projects - Plan and document fiber splicing and construction requirements for field implementation - Research and analyze existing network records, databases, and documentation to support fiber design and optimization - Maintain accurate fiber network inventory, including fiber routes, enclosures, conduit, and related assets - Update and manage fiber circuit and asset data in network inventory and database systems - Ensure accuracy of fiber usage and capacity tracking across systems - Collaborate with internal teams including Outside Plant (OSP), GIS, Sales Engineering, and Fiber Visualization teams - Support fiber relocation, restoration, and infrastructure modification projects - Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams - Prioritize and manage workload to meet project timelines and business needs - Support additional engineering and operational tasks as needed Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent telecom network experience - 3-7+ years of experience in fiber network design, OSP engineering, or telecom infrastructure - Strong understanding of fiber optic network design principles and outside plant engineering - Experience working with network inventory or database management systems - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Visio - Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills - Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities - Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams Preferred Qualifications - Experience in the telecommunications industry - Familiarity with GIS-based tools and mapping platforms - Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms - Working knowledge of fiber network design standards and best practices - Experience supporting large-scale fiber network deployments or expansions Additional Information - Role reports to Engineering leadership - Works closely with OSP, GIS, Sales Engineering, and network visualization teams - Focus on accuracy, documentation, and network integrity across fiber infrastructure - Fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment
