• Identify, document, and track defects, and work with the development team to resolve them. • Create, audit, and update test cases and QA documentation. • Perform functional, regression, exploratory, and user acceptance testing. • Cover iOS and Android mobile apps as the primary testing surface, with web flows tested as needed. • Take full ownership of QA on assigned maintenance projects, operating as the sole QA on each pod. • Adapt quickly to different project contexts, domains, and cadences across a rotating weekly workload. • Sync with the PM daily to align on priorities and report status, blockers, and coverage.

• Own and evolve scalable automation frameworks using Playwright and/or Cypress across UI, API, regression, and end-to-end flows • Define and drive test strategy in collaboration with product and engineering — including shift-left practices integrated at design and PR stage • Mentor and manage QA contractors and full-timers; run code reviews, guide framework decisions, and unblock the team day-to-day • Build and maintain CI/CD-integrated pipelines for continuous test execution and release gating • Champion AI-assisted testing tools to improve test generation, failure analysis, and coverage identification • Establish quality benchmarks, define go/no-go criteria, and own release readiness for high-impact launches • Perform exploratory and risk-based testing on critical features — not just automation upkeep • Identify flaky tests, coverage gaps, and technical debt in the test suite and drive resolution

• Defining Test Plans which cover the Validation & Verification Plan defined by the QA Team • Defining Test schedules and Test cases that cover requirements, UX specifications, and applicable standards • Performing manual tests • Replicating reported bugs/misbehaviours • Utilizing AI tooling to optimize and speed up daily tasks

Role Description We are currently seeking an experienced Test Engineer with proven experience consulting as a Test Engineer on modern web-based services for the Government Digital Services (GDS) platform. You will be joining a delivery team working on high-quality, user-centred digital services, where you will work closely with developers, product owners and delivery colleagues to ensure services are robust, accessible, secure and performant. This role will suit someone with strong automation, API testing, accessibility and security testing experience, who is comfortable working in an Agile environment.
