About the position This position is a part of the integration platform team within the Computing Services Division (CSD). This team provides integration solutions to all Washington state agencies, enabling them to connect applications, data and devices efficiently. With the growing demand for digital transformation, our Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) offers scalable, secure and cost-effective integration services, positioning us as a key player in the market. This position reports to the Integration Services Manager. As an Integration Administrator, you will ensure policy compliance, security, and stability of the platform(s) across agency applications and services utilized by state agencies. The administrator works across functional areas to ensure configuration, maintenance, documentation and security of the application program interface (APIs). Duties Some of what to expect with this role: - Technical lead for enterprise integration platforms and has advanced technical knowledge of MuleSoft Anypoint Software as a Service (SaaS) and related integration technologies. - Manage and configure MuleSoft Anypoint Software as a Service (SaaS) and other integration software. - Platform Stability: Monitor and fine-tune system performance using diagnostic tools such as MuleSoft Anypoint, Azure, Apigee, Boomi, etc., to ensure integrations run efficiently and reliably without disruptions. - Security Management: Apply updates, security patches, and compliance measures to protect data flows and integration endpoints from vulnerabilities. - Configuration and Maintenance: Set up user permissions, API gateways, and system configurations, tailoring them to meet organizational needs and performance standards. - Availability Monitoring: Implement and maintain high-availability strategies, such as load balancing and failover mechanisms, to maximize uptime and system accessibility. - Diagnose and resolve connectivity, deployment, or performance issues which are reported by the Integration Developers or identified while reviewing logs or other monitoring. - Document configurations, changes, and workflows to support consistency and compliance. - Conform to security and data governance policies across integration systems. - Analyze security intelligence artifacts received from our internal and external security partners and from our enterprise security solutions to quickly remediate or respond to cyber threats and trends. - Use various security enterprise platforms to monitor agency assets for vulnerabilities and cyber threats. These enterprise security platforms include Ivanti Neurons, Microsoft Defender, Securing Attack Surface Management (ASM) solution. - Independently resolve complex technical problems in the API infrastructure including external storage systems and network connectivity. Qualifications Here’s what we’re looking for: - Eight years of hands-on experience in administrating, troubleshooting, analyzing, designing, programming, or integrating (EAI) computer systems or databases in support of a client/server Windows environment. This experience must include the following: - Four years of experience working with and managing MuleSoft Anypoint or similar experience with other enterprise integration platforms. - Four years of experience troubleshooting large-scale integration issues, including performance optimization and security compliance, and incident resolution. - One year demonstrated proficiency in automating routine and complex tasks using scripting or programming/tools such as PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or MuleSoft Data Weave for data transformation, automated exception handling, alerting and scheduling workflows. * Formal education in information technology or related field may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis for up to four years. - The ability to take action to learn and grow. - The ability to take action to meet the needs of others. Preference may be granted to applicants with the following: - Bachelor’s degree in information technology. - Advanced certifications in integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Developer or Azure Integration Services) are highly preferred. - Leading and mentoring junior level developers in API integration a plus. The incumbent must be within a reasonable commuting distance to WaTech's office in Olympia, Washington for urgent onsite requirements. Onsite presence may be required more frequently based on business needs.
