Job Description

Senior GL Accountant

Vanta

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across a variety of general ledger accounts, including Cash, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Leases, Investments, Payroll, and other balance sheet and income statement accounts. • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Payroll, PeopleOps, Legal, and other business stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information. • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by analyzing financial results, investigating variances and discrepancies, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. • Perform flux and variance analyses across key accounts, leveraging data analytics and AI-enabled tools to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights. • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and internal control enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the accounting function. • Support external audits, special projects, system implementations, and other accounting initiatives as needed.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role, ideally in a high-growth SaaS environment
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
  • You have a strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • You’re highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets; experience with AI-enabled tools is a plus
  • You have hands-on experience with ERP systems; NetSuite preferred
  • Strong critical thinking skills with a track record of identifying discrepancies and implementing process improvements
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining proper audit-ready support for all entries
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight month-end deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills to partner with cross-functional teams
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
