Senior Software Engineer

Friends From The City

Role Description As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will help build a consolidated, modern portal that replaces outdated systems, improving the efficiency of processing financial-aid applications. - Carving a new .NET service off the old monolith and wiring it to data that still lives on the mainframe. - Designing REST APIs that a front-end team consumes to give staff a single screen instead of five. - Keeping data consistent between the old world and the new one while both are live. - Moving events between systems so nothing falls out of sync. - Making authentication and citizens' financial data airtight against government security standards. - Proving every change is safe with tests and monitoring before it touches production. - Conducting code reviews and helping set the bar for the engineers around you. Qualifications - 5 or more years building server-side systems in C#/.NET. - Comfortable in TypeScript on the front-of-backend seam. - Experience integrating relational databases like SQL Server or DB2 behind clean APIs. - Designed microservices and REST APIs that other teams depend on. - Moved data between systems with event streaming. - Implemented real authentication and authorization (OAuth2 / OIDC / SAML). - Ability to tell the story of a migration you personally carried, including challenges faced. Requirements - Incremental legacy modernization experience (genuinely optional). - Experience in government, civic-tech, or other regulated/high-stakes environments (genuinely optional). - Familiarity with Azure (especially government cloud), containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code (genuinely optional). - A public artifact you're proud of, like a repo, a merged PR, a talk, or a write-up (genuinely optional). - Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent experience. - 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred. Benefits - Competitive salary based on experience and market benchmarks. - 401(k) with company match to help you invest in your future. - 18 days of PTO, 11 paid federal holidays, and 5 additional sick days. - Flexible remote work with support for coworking memberships if needed. - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance. - Life insurance and short-term disability coverage. - Wellness-first culture that respects boundaries and encourages balance. - Annual Professional Development Stipend for courses, conferences, books, or coaching. - Opportunities to lead, mentor, and learn across projects and disciplines. - Regular feedback, growth planning, and clear career pathways. - A collaborative, mission-driven team that values your perspective. - The chance to work on meaningful civic tech projects that directly improve people’s lives. - An environment where creativity, curiosity, and care are part of the job. Company Description Friends From The City is a design and technology company focused on public impact and equity. We believe that inclusive design and accessible technology are essential to a just society.

Mediavine is a leading programmatic ad tech partner helping independent publishers build sustainable businesses

Full TimeRemoteTeam 201-500Since 2004H1B No Sponsor

Role Description The AdTech Engineering team owns the systems at the heart of Mediavine's business — the web wrapper that runs on every publisher site, our server-to-server (s2s) ad exchange, header bidding, A/B testing infrastructure, partner integrations, and privacy/consent tooling. The work is high-leverage and highly visible: changes you ship can move revenue across thousands of sites within hours. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the team. You'll lead projects end-to-end across our JavaScript/TypeScript wrapper and our Rust-based OpenRTB server, partner with Ad Operations, SRE, Data, and Product to ship measurable improvements, and mentor your peers along the way. What You'll Do - Lead and execute multiple concurrent projects across the AdTech stack — web wrapper features, OpenRTB server enhancements, SSP integrations, A/B test rollouts, and privacy/consent work — owning them from technical design through deployment and post-launch validation. - Act as a lead on initiatives spanning multiple teams: write technical design docs, drive review discussions, coordinate with Ad Operations and SRE, and keep stakeholders informed as the work progresses (especially when scope or timelines shift). - Contribute high-quality code that requires minimal correction in review across our JavaScript/TypeScript wrapper, our Rust s2s exchange, and the supporting tooling that surrounds them. - Design, ship, and analyze A/B experiments — translating revenue, viewability, and Core Web Vitals signals into actionable conclusions. - Build and maintain integrations with our SSP partners, diagnose integration issues end-to-end, and improve the efficiency of our supply paths. - Respond to production incidents — diagnose header bidding, GAM/MCM, or wrapper behavior with appropriate urgency, and follow up with durable fixes. - Effectively leverage modern AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, and similar) to accelerate research, prototyping, code review, and debugging — and help the team raise its overall sophistication in their use. - Provide meaningful, critical feedback in code reviews and mentor peers through pairing, design conversations, and PR review. - Participate in sprint planning, scoping, and estimation, and contribute to team strategy beyond just the work in front of you. - Stay current on the ad tech ecosystem — Prebid evolutions, GAM and MCM changes, privacy regulations, identity solutions, and AI-driven supply trends. Qualifications - 10+ years of experience in program management, product operations, delivery leadership, or related operational leadership roles. - Experience operating within fast-paced, founder-led, or executive-driven product organizations. - Strong understanding of software development workflows, Agile methodologies, and cross-functional product delivery processes. - Demonstrated success managing complex prioritization decisions, dependencies, and organizational tradeoffs. - Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across technical and business teams. - Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills. - Strong analytical and operational problem-solving capabilities. - Experience building scalable operational processes and delivery frameworks. - Ability to thrive in fast-changing environments while maintaining focus and execution discipline.
