Role Description We are seeking a Sales Engineer to help spearhead Power Factors’ continued growth in the wind, solar, and storage market. As a key team member, you will have the mandate to ensure a smooth client experience from top-of-funnel sales engagements. The Solutions Architect is responsible for engaging with prospects and customers as a technical advisor. The Solutions Architect knows our customers' business intimately and understands the unique challenges and aspirations of each of them. The individual brings relevant experience in the renewables industry, specifically in BESS, Solar PV, and Wind asset management for utility scale. The Solutions Architect deeply understands digital tools that support IPPs, investors, and other stakeholders managing renewable operational assets and often has a background involving contact with relevant IPPs. This entrepreneurial, cross-functional role requires multiple skill sets and involves significant interaction and coordination with our prospects and customers and Power Factors’ internal sales, engineering, product, development, data science, and customer success teams globally. The Solutions Architect plays a strategic role in sales planning and target achievement, facilitating complex technical engagements with our customers. They guide our customers and internal stakeholders through a process of rigorous discovery to understand needs, pain points, and objectives, then present the right solution to achieve those objectives and deliver the desired business value. Key Responsibilities - Presales Support: - Assist the sales team in technical presentations, demos, proof-of-value, and RFP responses. - Align technical solutions with business objectives. - Demonstrate strong sales acumen and the ability to support deals independently. - Evaluate the feasibility of client requests during the sales process and provide insights on possible solution pathways. - Work closely with clients to understand their unique business requirements, processes, and technical needs. - Define the Solution Scope for each prospect to integrate Power Factors applications with client systems, ensuring smooth data flow and optimal performance. - Collaborate with Account Executives and technical teams to develop customized proposals for enterprise clients. - Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on solution deliverables and expectations. - Technical Leadership: - Lead technical discussions, presentations, and negotiations with clients. - Manage large or complex projects and serve as a primary technical point of contact. - Act as a technical liaison between the client and our product and engineering teams. - Provide training and support to clients during the implementation process of proofs of value. - Collect feedback from clients to inform ongoing product development. - Attend industry events and trade shows and serve as a Power Factors technical brand ambassador. - Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members. - Stay updated with the latest trends in renewable energy, SaaS architectures, and related technologies. - Customer First Mindset: - Partner with customer stakeholders to ensure a smooth and satisfactory buying experience. - Focus on detail when tailoring customer-facing materials to each prospect. - Develop customer-facing documentation addressed to both non-technical and technical audiences. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master's in a technical field, e.g., Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering; Master’s degree is considered an asset. - Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in the renewable energy industry with experience in technical product/project management, business process development, software development, IoT/networking. - Work experience using and configuring Web-based IoT, SaaS, and IPaaS data platforms, including DAS platforms, SCADA systems, enterprise databases and historians, OSIsoft PI, and other cloud platforms, e.g., Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. - Relevant work experience in navigating the renewable energy landscape, including utilities, EPCs, third-party O&M organizations, asset owners, asset managers, and hardware and software vendors. - Demonstrated ability to quickly jump into complex problems and navigate competing priorities to drive solutions using analytical and decision-making skills and priority management. - Excellent, clear, concise written and oral communication skills in English. The ability to present in other languages is considered an important asset. - Ability to connect with all relevant audiences within an organization with the right message and level of detail. - Process-oriented with a growth mindset; ability to perform as an individual contributor and as a project coordinator. - Proven track record of high performance in a fast-paced environment.
