Senior Nuclear Controls Field Application Engineer

GE Vernova

Role Description The Senior Field Application Engineer is responsible for deploying the Nuclear Controls strategy in North America, by supporting the Sales Managers in complex opportunities, creating new pipelines through campaigns and being the commercial focal point of the SCS North America organization for the Nuclear Industry. - Provide pre-sales technical and product solution consultation for all Controls related solutions specifically to the Nuclear Industry. - Own the pipeline development plan for enabling future business in NAM for the Nuclear industry. - Develop and maintain deep understanding of GE Mark system platform solution and service offerings. - Actively listen, understand, and interpret customers’ business goals, operating objectives, and control system risks, and customize GE Vernova SCS solutions to best meet their needs. - Research and understand competitors’ regional value propositions and go to market approaches and support development of winning sales and solutions strategies. - Support optimal opportunity strategy and execution, including proposal development, delivery, and tracking. - Establish relationships with key regional customers to ensure a strong awareness of current threats and establish a preference for GE Vernova SCS solution. - Support Sales team with technical product solutions, presentations, and demos, with application knowledge in specific opportunities, and participating in site surveys, all related to Lifecycle Solutions. - Determine the appropriate solution scope for opportunities to quote, to support the Sales and Commercial team to generate a competitive proposal. - Become regional reference point for technical queries regarding the Nuclear Industry for the Controls prod line. - Partner with Product Line leadership to remain current on all market trends and anticipate changes in the market including regulations, threats, competitor approaches, etc. and continually educate Regional Teams on market dynamics and solution updates. - Lead effort to identify relevant case study sites and successful customer projects. - Deliver technical project / product presentation in industry forums (SOA/User meeting/Conferences), regional industry/application events. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university. - Minimum of 15 years of experience in the nuclear power industry. - Minimum of 15 years of experience working with steam turbine, generator, and controls technologies, including associated products, systems, and services. - Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: sales, project management, engineering, or field services. Requirements - Demonstrated success in leading control system migrations (e.g., Mark V to Mark VIe) within North American nuclear facilities, specifically focused on Balance of Plant (BoP), FWLC systems, Turbine Controls and Excitation Systems. - Provide leadership through the formulation and execution of proposal strategies that capitalize on GE's competitive strengths to serve the customer's needs while meeting GE’s business goals. - Support the maintenance of accurate and current project and opportunity information in Sales Force. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Ability to manage and influence in a matrix environment. - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. - Integrative team working style. - Time management skills and ability to work across functions. - Ability to work independently and be a self-starter. - Business acumen / analytic ability. - Provide demand forecasting and pacing support for Sales Operations / Finance. - Gas and / or Steam Turbine and Generator Controls knowledge. - Services & Aftermarket business model knowledge. - Ability to travel more than 30% of time. - Control Logic Design: Mastery of multi-element control strategies for Feedwater and Steam Generator/Drum level systems, including advanced handling of process transients (shrink/swell). - Nuclear Regulatory Compliance: In-depth working knowledge of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and NQA-1 quality standards as applied to digital control system upgrades. - Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD): Experience in the process of dedicating commercial digital controls for nuclear plant service. - Plant Transient Analysis: Ability to model and tune controls to prevent "unplanned reactor trips" during BOP system operations or load changes. - Safety/Non-Safety Isolation: Strict adherence to electrical and logical isolation standards (e.g., IEEE 384) to protect safety-related systems from non-safety control modifications. - Obsolescence Strategy: Proven ability to engineer "bridge" solutions for replacing legacy analog or proprietary control hardware while minimizing the scope of field-side wiring changes.
