Role Description The Software Engineer EHR Epic Integration Lead is responsible for managing complex integrations between Epic and third-party systems, focusing on the development, deployment, and maintenance of FHIR and HL7 v2 APIs. This role involves overseeing Epic system integrations, ensuring effective operation of interfaces, and managing data exchange processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with HL7, FHIR, EDI, and third-party interfaces, playing a critical role in managing interface configurations within Epic. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required. Responsibilities - Lead Integration Projects: Oversee end-to-end integration initiatives, including Epic-related interfaces, ensuring alignment with business goals, technical requirements, and timelines. - Epic Interface Management: Serve as the Epic Interface Analyst, managing the development, configuration, and support of interfaces using Epic Bridges or related tools. - Conduct connectivity, field-by-field, unit, mapped record, and integration testing. - API Development and Management: Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices for communication between internal and external systems, including Epic interfaces. - Manage HL7 and FHIR API integrations in Epic. - Manage and implement EDI integrations, ensuring smooth data exchange with external trading partners and clients. - Lead data integration efforts, ensuring accurate transformation, validation, and mapping of data between systems, including Epic data feeds. - Provide expert guidance to the integration team on API, EDI, and data integration best practices. - Collaborate with business, IT, and clinical stakeholders to define integration architecture and design scalable solutions, particularly within the Epic environment. - Work closely with external vendors and third-party partners to manage integrations with Epic and other systems. - Identify and resolve integration and interface issues, working closely with development, support, and operations teams. - Maintain thorough documentation for all integration processes, including Epic interface specifications, workflows, and technical specifications. - Ensure that all integration and interface solutions comply with industry standards, security protocols, and data privacy regulations. Requirements - EHR interface experience needed! - Experience with API management platforms. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines for integration processes. - Minimum of 8+ years of experience in integration roles, with significant exposure to HL7 and FHIR API/Services, EDI, and data integration. - Experience working as an Epic Interface Analyst with experience of at least 1 Interface engine like Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or MuleSoft is required. - Experience in Epic Interfaces for Eligibility (ANSI/X12), Authorization (ANSI/X12), Claims (ANSI/X12), E-Prescribing, and Financial Transactions. - Experience in Epic Public APIs such as Computer-Telephony Integration, Credit Card Device and Payment Gateway, Printing/Faxing. - Familiarity with healthcare-specific integration standards, including HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA requirements. - Building integrations using SOAP and RESTful Web Services, JDBC database connections using SQL and stored procedures, and vendor specified APIs. - Working experience of Interface Engine and integration with Epic PMS. - Strong proficiency in API development using REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML. - Extensive knowledge of EDI standards (e.g., X12, EDIFACT) and integration with trading partners, especially in healthcare transactions (837, 835, 270/271). - Proven experience with data integration platforms and ETL processes (e.g., Rhapsody, MuleSoft). - Experience with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) standards. - Experience with Epic integration tools, such as Epic Bridges and Interconnect. - Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and integration solutions for Epic on cloud environments. - Hands-on experience working with Epic's interface engine, interface configuration, and integration best practices using Epic Bridges. - Proficiency in handling data transformations, mappings, and validations across different formats and systems. - Epic Certification in relevant modules (Epic Bridges certification) preferred. • Design, build, and maintain internal AI enablement tools, services, and developer workflows • Build integrations that connect AI capabilities with internal systems, knowledge sources, and day-to-day workflows • Translate ambiguous productivity problems into practical engineering solutions and reusable platform capabilities • Develop and iterate on prototypes, proofs of concept, and production-ready implementations • Help establish durable engineering patterns, documentation, and operational practices for the platform • Use AI-assisted development tools extensively to design, implement, test, debug, and refactor software • Bring strong practical experience with Claude-based development workflows, including using Claude for code generation, architecture exploration, testing support, and iterative problem solving • Evaluate and improve prompt, context, orchestration, and retrieval patterns to increase quality, reliability, and speed • Apply responsible AI engineering practices, including security, privacy, access control, and safe handling of internal data • Implement and integrate Microsoft identity and authentication systems, including Entra ID, Agent 365, and Microsoft 365 services • Navigate and solve complex identity and authentication challenges across the Microsoft ecosystem with deep, hands-on understanding • Design and build integrations that correctly leverage Microsoft’s identity infrastructure, including OAuth/OIDC flows, conditional access, and enterprise auth patterns • Apply deep knowledge of the full Microsoft IT stack — not just the developer stack, but the IT stack: Entra ID, Agent 365, Microsoft 365, Azure, and their interdependencies • Work directly with the CEO and executive leadership to understand platform vision and translate it into engineering priorities • Partner with product, design, architecture, security, and business stakeholders to identify high-value AI enablement opportunities • Support rollout, onboarding, and internal enablement by helping teams adopt new AI-powered workflows effectively • Communicate technical tradeoffs, implementation plans, and outcomes clearly to technical and non-technical audiences • Deliver features and services end-to-end, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and iteration • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to sound engineering standards and review practices • Instrument systems, monitor usage, and help measure the impact of AI enablement on productivity and quality • Improve reliability, performance, and maintainability through thoughtful architecture, automation, and continuous refinement • Stay current on emerging AI engineering tools and techniques and apply them pragmatically where they create real value

• Act as a Fullstack Mobile Software Architect: design and define the complete solution (mobile frontend with Angular/Ionic and BFF with Node.js/NestJS), translate business requirements into technical criteria, design patterns, technical implementations and break down User Stories into detailed tasks; • Map and analyze the current project, identify technical debt and propose action plans to resolve it; • Support developers in understanding the software architecture, aligning business rules, acceptance criteria, test scenarios and development requirements; • Lead and guide technical discussions during refinement sessions, promoting clarity and alignment among team members; • Ensure compliance with pre-defined cloud architecture requirements; • Maintain an appropriate and sustainable documentation process for projects under your responsibility; • Promote and enforce best practices for observability, testing, security and performance throughout the software lifecycle; • Define and evolve communication patterns between the mobile app and the BFF, ensuring clear API contracts, versioning and efficient calls; • Define and enforce the event tagging strategy for analytics, ensuring traceability, data quality and alignment with product and data teams.
