Title: Sales Lead - German Speaking Location: London England GB Job Description: For this role we are seeking an individual who must speak English and German fluently. Bike knowledge is a plus! Hello, we're Laka You might not have heard of us yet - that's OK, you've found us now - come and find out more about our journey... Founded in 2017, Laka set out to transform insurance by connecting passionate cyclists to form a collective and protect their bikes for when things go wrong - a better model for insurance was born. For once people come first in insurance by fairly sharing the cost amongst each other. We exist to rewrite the rules of insurance so it’s something people stand with, not against. Our model: Laka makes sure everything runs smoothly for The Collective - from exceptionally fast claims, splitting the cost fairly, guaranteeing a maximum price and all the other heavy lifting of a regulated insurance business. For that service, the collective pays Laka a fee relative to the claims in a month. Take a closer look at exactly what this means and how it works here What have we been up to since then...? In a nutshell, we've been very busy! Here are a few of the massive achievements we've had: Raised £31m! Launched Laka in a total of 10 countries, essentially helping more people in more places! 70 Lakanauts also based beyond NL (France) so UK, NL, FR and beyond Supporting riders from everyday commuters to elite athletes and pro teams Partnering with leading leading cycling brands and retailers across Europe Been awarded ‘Best Cycle Insurance Provider’ (for the past 8 years in a row - go us! 🎉) Giving our all to customers and they agree, check out our 4.9 google rating! We’re growing real fast on our path to make the Laka collective model the industry standard and we’re expanding across segments, products, and territories. We’re looking for innovative, bold and brave minds to help us build the world’s best insurance company. The role Sales Lead - German Speaking We're expanding into additional markets in Europe, and we need someone who can open doors in German-speaking markets and build the commercial infrastructure to win them. This is a full-cycle commercial role: you'll identify the right partners (manufacturers, leasing companies, fleet operators, large retailers), build the relationships from scratch, close the deals, and own the accounts long-term. You'll see it through from the first conversation to a live, performing partnership that drives commercial results. What you'll be getting up to: - Sales & Business Development - Market Strategy: Work directly with the Head of Commercial to identify new verticals and growth opportunities in the European markets. - Build the Pipeline: Proactively identify and engage with key prospects, including bike manufacturers, leasing companies, large retailers, and service providers. - Close Deals: Manage complex, long-term sales cycles with mid-market and enterprise organisations. You will need to expertly navigate multiple decision-makers, proactively maintain deal momentum over several months, and negotiate terms to successfully bring new partners. - Pitch Laka: Take our multi-faceted value proposition and tailor it perfectly to the partner. You'll need to hold your own in complex conversations spanning non-traditional insurance mechanics, commercial commission models, API/tech integration requirements, and end-customer benefits. - Account Management & Implementation - 360° Ownership: Serve as the dedicated point of contact for your partners from the moment the contract is signed through the entire life of the account. - Onboarding & Activation: Ensure partners are seamlessly integrated and actively promoting Laka to their customers. When closing deals, you will take ownership of the project management and oversee the complex operational rollout. - Drive Growth: Conduct regular business reviews (QBRs), track performance metrics, and identify opportunities to upsell or deepen the partnership. - Gather Intelligence: Act as the voice of our partners internally, relaying feedback to our product and marketing teams to help us continuously improve. Requirements This role will be a great fit if you: - - Language Skills: You are a native or highly fluent German speaker, completely comfortable pitching to the C-suite, negotiating complex contracts, and managing stakeholder relationships in German. Fluency in English is also required. - Deep Bike Industry Knowledge: You know the cycling and e-mobility ecosystem inside out. Whether your background is with bike brands, retailers, leasing providers, or micromobility fleets, you understand their business models, their margins, and their pain points. - Proven Commercial Track Record: You have 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-cycle B2B sales, B2B2C partnerships, or account management, preferably within a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment. - Tool Proficiency: You know your way around CRMs and are highly proficient with standard business suites (Excel, PowerPoint, or equivalent) to manage your workflow, build presentations, and track data. - About You - Relentlessly Persistent: You don't let deals go cold. You have the grit, patience, and organisational skills to "chase" effectively, keeping momentum alive across long, complex sales cycles without being overbearing. - A Relationship Builder: You thrive on building high-trust, long-term connections rather than transactional ties. Externally, you act as a genuine partner to your clients; internally, you are a natural diplomat who can easily align product, tech, and operations teams around a shared vision. - End-to-End Ownership: You are definitely not a "sell and run" type of closer. You care deeply about the actual execution of your deals and take full accountability for them. You are highly structured and take pride in driving a project from the very first pitch all the way through to a successful, operational rollout. - A problem solver: You work closely with our partners to find opportunities to uncover win-win opportunities and then collaborate to work through the details to deliver these, building strong long-term relationships in the process. Benefits Our perks What can you expect from working at Laka? Hybrid way of working - you choose whether you work from home or our beautiful offices in London, Bristol and Amsterdam Share options - we want you to be rewarded for Laka's success - everyone in the business is granted share options when they join Company bonus scheme - if the company hits its targets, you'll be eligible for a company bonus Annual leave - 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays), with the option to roll over up to 5 days per year Pension scheme - Laka pays 3% of your base salary into your pension to help you save for the future Private medical insurance - we’ll give you individual private cover, with the option to add partners & dependants too (at a small cost) Monthly lunch on us - £15 every month to enjoy lunch on Laka - pop out locally with people in the office, or order-in at home, the choice is yours Company-wide events - we love getting everyone together as much as possible - expect regular events throughout the year, for team building, bonding, and general good old-fashioned fun! Monthly socials - as if quarterly company events weren't enough, we also give each office a budget for a monthly social activity (think anything from low-key dinner & drinks through to adventure golf, paddleboarding, bowling, electric darts, trampoline parks and more!) Laka swag - we'll give you some lovely Laka kit to get you started, including a jumper & t-shirts so you can feel (& look) like part of the family Laka credit - for all you cyclists, we'll give you £10 credit per month towards insuring your bike(s) with us - plus give you access to a bunch of cycling industry discounts Mental health support - unlimited support via Spill, including one-to-one therapy sessions Belonging at Laka We're committed to building and sustaining a business that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging - our customer collective is broad and inclusive, and we'd like our own people to be too. We're fast becoming a global community of people and we believe each person's unique qualities should be celebrated as they are a huge part of what makes Laka a great place to be. We'd love you to bring your authentic self to work every single day, no matter your age, ethnicity, religion, citizenship, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, caring responsibilities, neurodiversity, or anything else that makes you, you.
