Role Description The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Component Engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The person in this position performs design and stress analyses of pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and/or primary equipment supports in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS Component Engineering organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines. - Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. - Analyzes components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings including Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary stress intensity range, and Fatigue. - Utilizes results from evaluations to optimize component(s) design. - Direct experience with ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages. - Interprets scope and project requirements. - Acquires, maintains and develops training qualifications. - Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. - Performs other duties as assigned.
