• Follow standards and goals for the engineering department • Assist in documenting and developing industry best practices, standards and guidelines • Attend project meetings, develop reports and status of design deliverables • Prepares detailed mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural designs for solar arrays • Coordinates with Project Managers, and other project participants to define project design basis and project goals • Uses understanding of system performance, construction logistics, material and labor costs to optimize designs • Responsible for creating and maintaining design packages • Adopts necessary document control measures to manage internal and external design documentation • Creates Bills of Materials for projects • Holds design review meetings with internal and external parties as needed to maintain proper QC/QA on their projects • Assists in development of departmental processes and best practices for the team
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture
- Minimum of 3 years project engineering experience in the design/build, EPC or utility electricity generation field producing technical CAD documents
- Strong AutoCAD skills, SolidWorks is a plus
- Working knowledge of electrical and civil design, materials and methods of installation
- Strong familiarity with construction and electrical codes
- Experience in the solar PV industry or other power generation sectors, and experience creating utility scale permitting and construction documents

Role Description The Leidos Technology and Digital Transformation Solutions Division is looking to add a part-time team member to our San Diego based utility telecom and networking team who can provide immediate impact on our backlog of design efforts. This position supports teleworking. - Participate as a member of our design team for a new utility control center. - Develop changes to and maintain inside and outside plant communications cabling infrastructure design drawings in Visio, Bluebeam or AutoCAD, write product specifications and descriptions for inside and outside plant cable infrastructure as needed. - Develop cabling and patching – fiber and copper - details for circuit interconnections. - Support the development of bills of material for communications cabling systems. - Develop test and migration approaches for new cabling systems. - Design fiber interconnections between external sites and internal transport and routed network equipment. - Participate in peer reviews and customer meetings including developing and presenting technical design materials. Qualifications - Current RCDD accreditation with BICSI and a minimum of 10 years experience as an RCDD developing communications cabling design for buildings and campuses. - Engineering degree desired but not required. - Must be a US citizen and be able to pass a DOE security background check.
