• Lead the event-driven architecture; • Platform governance (deployment, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Confluent Kafka clusters); • Create and configure resources such as topics, Schema Registry, KSQL, Kafka Connect, etc.; • Monitor, debug, and optimize Kafka cluster performance, ensuring low latency and high resilience; • Provide technical support and training to internal teams on Confluent Kafka best practices and usage; • Develop scripts and automation to manage Kafka infrastructure and ensure high availability and scalability; • Produce detailed documentation of the architecture, deployment processes, and operational procedures; • Define architecture and development standards (documentation, best practices, design patterns); • Define and implement security policies: access profiles, roles, and authentication protocols; • Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities to leverage the platform; • Cost control (FinOps).

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience implementing and managing Confluent Kafka and components such as Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, Schema Registry, etc.;
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP;
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems architecture and real-time data management;
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Dynatrace and Grafana);
  • Knowledge of messaging protocols and queueing systems (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ);
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deliver effective solutions in a timely manner;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams;
  • Experience defining architecture and development standards;
  • Ability to analyze complex issues related to data integrations and implement effective solutions;
  • Experience in event stream processing using Kafka Streams or other event-processing tools;
  • Desirable: Confluent certifications such as Confluent Certified Developer or Confluent Certified Administrator.

Qualifications - Degree or equivalent experience in a clinical, life sciences, healthcare or related field. - Experience in medical devices, clinical education, scientific affairs, clinical training or a similar healthcare environment. - Strong ability to interpret clinical evidence, guidelines and data, and communicate insights clearly to internal and external audiences. - Experience engaging with healthcare professionals, clinicians, KOLs and cross-functional teams. - Understanding of NHS systems, stakeholders and healthcare pathways. - Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to tell a compelling, evidence-based story. - Strategic thinking, commercial awareness and an understanding of how medical education supports adoption, utilisation and retention. - Analytical mindset with a focus on measurable impact, ROI and continuous improvement. - Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programmes and priorities. - Willingness to travel nationally across the UK and Ireland, approximately 50–60% of the time.
