Role Description Lead the development of strategy and technical design for large projects, including: - Defining timelines and project plans - Analyzing and estimating feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs - Ensuring that expected application performance levels are achieved - Committing to overall deliverables with customers and/or management - Recommending vendors for projects and negotiating terms/conditions - Supporting evaluation of new technical direction and approach with recommendations to senior management - Leading the coding/configuration, testing, implementation, and documentation of solutions - Developing detailed design specifications - Performing complex applications programming activities, including coding, testing, debugging, documentation, maintenance, and modification of complex application programs - Monitoring and establishing the operating efficiency of existing application systems - Providing (or arranging for) proactive maintenance - Leading the resolution of customer inquiries - Serving as a coach and mentor to more junior developers, including delegating and managing tasks as appropriate - Acting as a technical expert on existing applications and other interrelated/adjacent systems and applications - Designing systems/applications with a high level of complexity - Evaluating the applicability of leading-edge technologies to influence future business strategies - Generating technical and/or business systems knowledge and ideas from external sources May telecommute. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field - 8 years of experience in job offered or in a Software Engineer-related occupation Requirements - Java Enterprise, Java application servers, including WebSphere, WebLogic, or JBOSS, and relational databases, including Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server - Web services and messaging layer using SOAP, REST, JAXB, and JMS - Event-driven architecture (EDA) and service-oriented architecture (SOA) - Enterprise systems technologies, including Java/J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, EMS, Kafka, JBoss, RDBMS, Cloud/Microservices, Caching, Secure Development Lifecycle, and Distributed Processing - Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), DevOps processes and tools, and Containerization - Cloud-based infrastructure, services, and technologies like Google Cloud Platform or equivalent (e.g. Bluemix, Cloud Foundry, Azure, AWS) - Experience collaborating with distributed and overseas teams to execute IT project(s) - Leading development of project plans for information technology projects - Reviewing business requirements and proposing technical implementation roadmaps
