Role Description The Design Engineer (DE) is a member of the bespoke event spaces and multipurpose rooms team and a supporting contributor to the support of client design projects. The DE reports directly to the Senior Manager for Project Engineering. The DE will provide support through the design project life cycle from sales concept to design development, construction drawings to construction administration support. As a technical resource on a project team, you will be instrumental in the determination and execution of client and system requirements and will collaborate with support teams to bring your design to life. What You’ll Do - Contributor for complex engagements and works directly with clients and the Design Engineering team to develop specifications, designs, budgets, timelines and manage expectations. - Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements. - Provide technical expertise and coordination information to support the architecture, installation and planning of electronic security solutions. - Develop project estimates and proposals. - Develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting documentation. - Develop detailed 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC drawings. - Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients. - DE may have client interaction and contribute to the P and L performance. - Maintain expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars and educational forums. May author articles and/or analyze trends. - Provide direction and counsel to junior personnel in engineering projects and guide issue resolution. - Attend appropriate manufacturer trainings, attend or lead lunch and learns and continue online education. Complexity The DE will work with the other DE’s and Sales Leadership on resource assignment and needs. This role may be billable in a post-sales capacity, though there are times when the DE will work on presales or program efforts, team management and general administration. The DE team will work on the most complex systems, the most complex client needs and the largest projects. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee. Work will normally be performed within normal office conditions and/or home office depending on location of DE. On occasions the employee may be exposed to construction site conditions. Employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with all safety regulations in place by the GC. Use of PPE is usually required on job sites. The employee can typically spend at least 50% of their time on their feet and be required to mobile around the construction site. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment and controls required for SI installation projects. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision. Travel Occasional travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver’s license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate. What You’ll Bring Education & Certifications - High school diploma or GED required. - Associates degree required and/or equivalent experience. - Certifications or training within Milestone and Lenel required. Required Skills/Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in technical systems designing. - Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM and MS Office 365. - A clear understanding of project phases: Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning. - A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, installation and integration as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications. Desired Skills/Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Certifications or training within Genetec, Avigilon and S2 preferred. - Other relevant certifications may be required or preferred based on the technology focus of the position. - Detailed oriented, independent, self-starter. - Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines. - Excellent communication skills. - Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages. - High level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills. Role Description The Senior Electrical Specialist serves as ON.energy’s qualifying master electrician of record in the State of Texas and the on-site electrical subject matter expert for AI UPS deployments at hyperscale data center campuses. Holding (and “hanging”) an active Texas Master Commercial Electrician license under ON.energy for the duration of employment is a core function of the role and a condition of hire. This is a high-travel, hands-on field role and an individual contributor position with no direct reports. The Specialist is the primary escalation path for electrical issues during commissioning — validating workmanship and code compliance, witnessing and signing off on key electrical tests, and driving issues to resolution with EPCs, AHJs, utilities, and OEMs on aggressive schedules. The ideal candidate brings deep field electrical experience and the authority to hold the line on safety and code compliance. Key Responsibilities - License of Record & Electrical Authority - Serve as ON.energy’s qualifying master electrician of record in Texas. - Act as the on-site electrical subject matter expert and primary escalation path for electrical issues during commissioning. - Coach EPC field crews and ON.energy field staff on electrical safety, code compliance, and quality standards. - Field Inspection & Verification - Travel to project sites across the U.S. to investigate and resolve electrical issues. - Validate that installations meet NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, AHJ, and ON.energy standards. - Witness, verify, and sign off on key electrical commissioning activities. - Ensure all work is compliant with relevant codes and internal standards. - Coordination & Issue Resolution - Partner with EPC contractors, electrical subcontractors, utility representatives, AHJs, and OEM field service engineers. - Review electrical drawings and flag issues back to engineering before they reach the field. - Permits & Documentation - Pull, sponsor, and close out electrical permits as required by AHJs. - Capture electrical findings, deficiencies, root-cause analyses, and corrective actions. Qualifications - Active Texas Master Electrician license — Commercial (in good standing). - Willingness to serve as ON.energy’s qualifying master electrician of record in Texas. - 10+ years of progressive electrical experience. - Hands-on experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems. - Direct field experience with large-scale electrical equipment. - Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and OSHA standards. - Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and documentation. - Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions on active construction sites. - Strong written documentation skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office. - Ability to travel to project sites across the U.S. at least 50% of the time. - Valid U.S. driver’s license. - Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
